If you live in the UK, you will most likely have heard of her. For those of you who don't know who she is, she was the winner of The X Factor, our successor to Pop Idol, and has gone on to some success (indeed, more successful than any of the others so far), being the labelled the 'new Mariah Carey/Whitney Houston'.

She, with the help of Simon Cowell, is now diverting her attention to the States, in a bid to "crack America" - she's already performed on the Oprah Winfrey Show, and is due to perform on American Idol this season.

Her singles:

A Moment Like This (cover of the Kelly Clarkson song)
Bleeding Love
Better in Time
Footprints in the Sand

So what do you think? I'm just generally curious, especially to what American members think - all this talk of cracking America, it should be interesting to hear the views of actual Americans.

I recognize the name. I'll have to listen, although I probably won't like her. For the most part, music that comes from American Idol (and so I am generalizing it is about the same over seas-- the X Factor/ Pop Idol) isn't my type of music.

But it is fun to try new things! I think I recognize one of her song names? I could be crazy.

I'm currently listening the "Footprints in the Sand" and it sounds like the same-old, same-old to me. Poppy, cliche, and boring. Yeah.

Also, I naturally hate anything associated with American Idol. I mean, real hatred, not just casual whatever hatred. A thousand curses upon it....

I like Leona Lewis, but I've only heard Bleeding Love so far. Today I'm going to buy her album for my sister for her birthday, which is also good for me because I can put it on my iTunes as well.

Didn't she reach American number one a few days ago?

I've only heard Bleeding Love but I just love it. I have it on Itunes. I might get her cd but I want to listen to the stuff first. But yeah, I love her voice. And that song.

Leona Lewis *gags*

The Wombats did a MUCH better version of Bleeding Love here:

Maybe it's because I just don't like pop?

I'm listening to her album now. It's really good.

Can't say Bleeding Love is my favourite, I like Homeless. But I've only listened to each song once, so I can't really remember.

She can definetely sing, though.
