The groups section of YWS is getting a radical makeover, and I just completed phase 1. To see the results, just go to the Group Index and click on any group.

Users will now see a description of the group at the top as well as that group's image. For now, the default image is the YWS shield. A group announcement set by the moderator is displayed above the discussion board.

It's also a lot easier to join a group. Just go to the Group Index, and select a group. From there, you will see an option to "Join Group" if you aren't already a member.

Group moderators, however, get a lot more. They can change their group's image, change the group announcement, and can easily see if they have any new members pending approval.

Phase 2 will be a remake of the Group Index page. There'll be separate listings for popular groups, groups you belong to, and new groups. A browsing feature will also be available.

Update:
Also added option for group moderators to change the description of their group directly from their group's page via the group index.

UPDATE yws_groups SET group_announcement = 'Hello Book Club! Time to rise and shine! Get up, get reading, it's time for a new BotM! (and once we get active, I'll not put up a new cheesy message every day!)' WHERE group_id = '2379'

Razo ->> Fixed! It'll work on all templates now.

Bek ->> Fixed as well. The problem had to do with apostrophes, but everything should be working fine now.

Matt ->> Yours is the trickiest issue. The apostrophe in Matt's Happy Place is throwing it off, but I can't figure out right now how to fix it.

Grif ->> If you have an error, then please post on what page you got the error!

Sounds cool, but it isn't working. I click on a Usergroup and the screen just goes white... it doesn't even pretend like it's loading or anything. Sad

Hee hee, silly punctuation marks...fussy things that they are! Nate, this is really exciting. You're so ... forward-moving and constantly improving the site. You deserve a cake. If only I could send one in the mail without it being crushed...
