The Princess of Parataxis commands you to write an "Ars Poetica".
That's a Latin phrase meaning the art or nature of poetry,
so basically you write a poem about what poetry is, what it should be.
If you want examples of them, Aristotle, Horace, and Czesław Miłosz wrote the most famous "Ars Poetica"s, but there are many more. This is Archibald MacLeish's:
http://transcriptions.english.ucsb.edu/archive/courses/liu/english25/materials/macleish.html
First prize will be four and a half in depth critiques.
Second prize will be two in depth critiques.
Third prize will be half an in depth critique.
Anyway, get your Ars into it. |

That depend on who wins, if they'd like the first or the last half critiqued, half in parts, or just for me to be half-arsed about the whole thing. **laughs**

I sorta wrote a poem, but it...well, it will probably be too obscure to get the poetry message across. So is it alright if it's incredibly confusing and twisted and doesn't have anything to do with poetry on first look?

Uh, Gadi, I'm the one judging it, of course it's allowed to be confusing and twisted, be very hypocritical if anything that didn't make sense was verboten.

Sorry, one more question; do you want it posted in the lit forums and a link here, or would you like poems via PM?

Oh, you can post it in the lit forums with a link here if you so choose, that way I suppose you get feedback from everyone else as well.

Now that I have read through this carefully, and feel slightly more confident about my poetry... I must attempt this. Hopefully I can bring something out in time.

Some truly amazing entries here, I'm proud, and hate you all for possessing so much talent. It's the 7th for me here, but if there are last minute entries, I can be bribed, and it's still the 6th somewhere, I'm sure. Comprehensive judge's report to follow.
