Okay, here's my idea for this contest. I want you to take a Christmas song, I don't care what one it is, just as long as it's an actual, published song, and write a story relating to that song. The story should be set at Christmas time, and I should be able to see the relation between the song and the story.
Example: The Christmas Song: Family party on Christmas eve. Jingle Bell Rock: write about a Christmas party. Or just write a Christmas story and have the song playing somewhere in it...
That's just to help you see what I want, I'm expecting more originality than that
Here's some specifics:
Word count: 1,000 to 4,000
Deadline: 11/14 to 12/20
Prizes: 1st=200pts and 2 critiques of choice
2nd=100 pts and 1 critique of choice
3rd=either 100pts or a critique of choice
You can write what genre you write in because I will judge them all on these points: originality/creativity, overall effect, writing mechanics, and quality of the story.
I don't want to carry a dead contest. So, if four people haven't entered by 12/7 (the seventh of December), I'll just cancel it. My plan is to announce the results the day before Christmas Eve and give everyone a good yuletide read. But, we'll see....
