"So I'm gonna shake and shimmy it and have some fun today!"
I loooooooove that movie. It's so much fun. Even though I disagree with a lot of the philosophy in it, it's so much fun to watch that you can't help but like it. It just makes me happy. |

"Cause you can't stop the motion of the ocean or the sun in the sky, you can wonder if you wanna but I never ask why..."
What philosophy are you talking about, Areida? Just like the white/black segregation? Well, that's what life was like back then! |

| No, I mean all the stuff about "people who are different - their times is coming!" It's one thing to have a problem with people just because they're built differently than you or have a different skin color, and another thing entirely to accept obesity. There's a difference between "big, blonde and beautiful" and being unhealthy. So while it's a fun movie, I disagree that it's okay to be fat. That's just laziness. |

Whatever. This movie rocked! I went and bought the soundtrack and stuff so now I know ALL of the words. You guys are lame who think that Hairspray was dumb.
This rocks!

It was indeed a fun movie.
Although the lovey-dovey slow song & dance between John Travolta and Christopher Walken scarred me for life. xD |

I just saw that movie. I kinda liked it - it was cute - but the "Baltimore" song was FRICKING ANNOYING, as were most of the songs. And John Travolta's voice was creepy.
And Arieda, I think the philosophy was less "it's okay to be fat" and more "it's okay to accept yourself and be who you are". That was what I got at least. And FYI, being fat is not laziness. |

I do kind of think that I liked the original version of it the best, as I think it really did capture what it was like back then. Jon Travolta was kind of freaky, also.
But, I really don't have that much of a problem with the new version. There was more singing, which was good, and it wasn't changed all that much.
It was fun watching the new version with my mom, because she pointed out some of the mistakes they made with the new one. Like the backpacks that weren't supposed to exist yet.
Anyway, I think the story is more understandable in the old version, but the new version is for fun. Also, I'd recommend watching the old version before making judgments on the plot and philosophies. Blame anything else on our pop culture. |
