Ok... so my other contest didn't go too well. Let's try again, mkay?

----

Your goal: You are to create an allegory. An example would be the poem, "Inferno", or maybe it was a short story. In that story/poem, the main character is trying to go down the right path after sinning so much. But, in the story, he is walking down an actual path and the actual sins are blocking his way of getting out of the forest he's in. In his mind, the sins he's done have come back to him and are preventing him from going down the right path a.k.a doing what's right. I hope I explained that well. Confused

Your job is to do something similar by creating a short story (one chapter) about a character going through something in their mind, but also actually experiencing it in the real world.

Deadline: End of September, and I may give an extra week after that.

Ratings: It doesn't matter, but if it's rated R, send me the story in a PM.

Contestants so far:

-gadi
-piepiemann22

If you don't understand what I'm asking for, you can PM me. Hopefully I'll be able to find a link to give you a better idea of what I mean if you don't know what an allegory is. Good luck!

Also, a note to everyone, please do NOT enter this contest if you know you aren't going to stick with it. That's what happened with my last one, and I only got one entry submitted even though about six or so people said they were going to do it. I'd prefer you at least start a rough draft for this and then tell me if you're going to enter, that way you'll know if you're actually up to doing this. But, if you do happen to enter and just don't feel like working on it anymore, just tell me so I won't be looking for something from you when the deadline comes!

~Syd

I have something already written that I think might work. Does it have to be a new piece, or can it be something older? Mine's about a year and half old, I think... I'd have to check and make sure it could qualifiy as an allegory and give it a quick edit, but other than that, is an old piece acceptable?

There is no actual word limit, but there is a page limit. Just a whole page or less would be fine. (I'm not sure how many words a whole page is.)

You're welcome, and thanks is return. It's fine. G'luck!

This is my entry. I'm not sure if it qualifies, but since I committed to enter, I'll go ahead and post it anyway. Wink

Aww, I wish I had known about this sooner. It might have been the motivation I needed to get the allegory I'm writing finished...

Well, it's probably too long, anyway. It's at least two or three pages so far. Oh, well...
