"Most preps are like that, always thinking everyone else is scum of the earth." Siren said,

"You better believe it. They are no good jerks, boyfriend stealers too." Amber said,

"I've meet quiet a few girls that had a boyfriend stolen from one. I've never had that problem." Siren replied, "So, how old are you?" Siren asked trying to change the subject.

"17, you?"

"16, I just got my license." Siren grinned.

"Got a car?"

"Nope, a pickup, but my parents wont let me drive it yet. My grandpa gave it to me, so I have a really nice f250 sitting useless in my drive way." Siren said,

"Dang, you rich or something?"

"Nope, grandpa is he loves stocks, and loves to spoil me, though it gets really annoying." She said, she saw her brother step out of the school and look around. He walked over.

"Why aren't you in class?" He demanded.

"My teacher said I could be out here." She replied,

"SIren?" He glanced at Amber then looked back at her.

"What are you doing out here?" She asked,

"Your lucky they didn't call dad, they said that you got in a fight." He said,

"I didn't get in a fight." She said, "You didn't answer me."

"You didnt get in a fight, thank god," He relaxed, he was to overprotective. "Just make sure you don't skip classes."

She looked at the boy, running her eyes over him. She had never seen him before, so it must have been Siren's brother. After silently staying out of the conversation, she grinned.

"She may not be skipping, but I am. And trust her when she says she didn't get into a fight...I did it for her." She pulled her book bag strap higher up on her shoulder and shifted her weight on her feet. The breeze tickled at her kneecaps through her torn jeans as they stood there.

"I guess I'll go to second period...It's my theater class, I actually like that class."

==============================================================

Roxy

I walked down the hall next to the lunchroom and glanced through the windows at one of the courtyards. Three students stood talking. I knew the red-haired girl, we were pals, but the other two had to be newbies. I turned to the courtyard doors, the opposite direction of my first period Automives class.

"Hey, Pip!" I said once I got out there. Mr. Watford already knew i was at school and wouldn't mark me absent. I was the only girl in his class and I was his favorite.

The newbies looked up as Amber turned to look at me.

When I got over there, Pippy stood up and I gave her a hug, like every day.

"Hey, Rox." She said. I looked at the new kids.

"Introduction, please?"

She hugged Roxy and laughed. "Yeah, sure. This is Gangsta, and Gangstas brother...I think."

Roxy joined in on the laughing; Amber had always joked around calling the new kids 'gangstas' because they normally stood alone at break and ate alone at lunch.
Just like a gangsta.

"Naw, this is Siren, I don't know the dudes name...but I'd like to." She grinned and winked. "Again, kidding."

She playfully shoved Roxy's shoulder, "Skipping class again, loser?" They joked around like that allot, so Roxy knew she didn't mean it.

Kevin

Later that day, I was heading to class when I spotted Roxy and Pippy talking to some other students.

"Hey girls," I greeted them, "You not coming to Mr Watford's class today, Roxy?"

"In a moment. Where are you next, Siren?" Roxy asked, turning to a pretty brown haired girl with amazing blue eyes.

"I'm not sure," She replied, pulling a crumpled timetable from her bag. Pippy leaned over her shoulder and smiled.

"You're upstairs. Come on, I'll show you Gangsta. Need help with your room Gangsta's bro?"

"No. I'm cool."

The sound of lunch trays hitting the ground caused them all to look at the other side of the cafeteria. A crowd had started to form.

"What's going on over there?" Siren asked.

Amber shrugged. "I don't know. Let's check it out."

They went over to the crowd and pushed their way to the front. In the middle of it all they found one of the school's meanest jocks yelling at a new kid they had never seen in school before. The new kid had messy, shoulder length brown hair and broad shoulders. He didn't so much as flinch as the other guy yelled at him.

"You think you're f*cking tough, don't yeah? You think you're better than me?"

The new guy calmly shook his head. "Look, buddy, I don't want any trouble here."

"Oh, you've got trouble, you've got a lot of f*cking trouble! Larry's got a broken nose because of you!"

"I was only trying to defend myself."

The jock pushed the new guy's shoulder, causing him to take a step back. "You wanna show how tough you are by defending yourself from me? Punk *ss?"

The crowd had begun to chant "Fight! Fight! Fight!"

The new guy rubbed his shoulder. "I'm only going to tell you once, don't touch me."

The jock clenched his fist and lashed out at the new guy's face. The new guy blocked it and punched the jock in the solar plex. The jock gasped, hugged his chest and fell to the ground. The new guy sighed and shook his head as he pushed his way through the crowd.

Amber was amazed. No one at this school had the guts to stand up to one of the jocks like that, and this guy comes along and takes him down with one hit!

Siren

Siren watched as the guy just hit the jock once, knocked him down, and walked off. He was going to end up walking past them. When he got within hearing range she spoke,

"You ok?" She asked,

"Yea, no harm done." He smiled

“What was all that about?” Amber asked,

“They wanted to pick on someone, guess they picked the wrong kid.” He replied,

“Guess, no they did, dude, no one ever does that.” Amber said smiling,

“Jocks aren’t exactly the best group to get in a fight with. Cheerleaders are a different story though.” Siren smiled at Amber.

Roxy

I sighed. "Two fights on the first day of school." I shook my head. "Let's be glad only one teacher actually saw one. Otherwise, it's uniforms next year." I faked a shudder. "What's your name, Karate Man?"

"Max. Max Ramos."(correct me if I'm wrong with the spelling)

"Roxy Daleheart." I said offering my hand. I liked meeting new students. I wanted there first year at our school to be better than mine...

She laughed at Max, "Dude, join the club. I bout choked a cheerleader this morning for messing with my buddy here." She wrapped her arm around Siren's shoulders and pulled her close, laughing again. She never had any problems with the jocks; just the cheerleaders.

Amber looked over at Max. She blushed, and couldn't help but stare for a moment. He was perfection; brown shaggy hair, lean, and tough. She shook her head and looked away. Clearing her throat, she managed to get out a few words.

"So, Max...is it? Amber, but everyone calls me Pippy." She went over the whole hand-gesture to the hair routine again, and stuck her tongue out at Siren, who laughed thinking out their earlier experience.

"Yeah, it's Max."

"So, exactly how did you manage to piss of that guy?" Kevin asked. "He said something about you breaking his friend's nose."

Max rubbed his eyes with his thumb and forefinger, a sure sign of tiredness. "It started after first period. I'm new here, so I was on my way to my second class and got lost. I heard some commotion in one of the guy's washrooms and decided to check it out. There were two guys picking on a 9th grader."

"Ahh," Siren said, "so he's mad at you because you stuck up for someone they were pushing around?"

"That, and I did in fact break that guy's nose in the process." He sighed. "I really don't like resorting to violence, but I'll do it if somebody's in trouble."

"Well, whatever you do, the jocks are going to be on your back for the rest of the year now." Kevin warned him.

"I can handle myself." He noticed Amber staring somewhat intently at his eyes. When Max looked at her she looked away. He smiled, she was cute.

"Poor freshman. They always get picked on. I remember when I was a freshman...I was dating a senior, so I got off easy." She glanced over at Max and blushed again.

"But of course he had...more things on his mind than sweet relations. You know how freshman year was." She cleared her throat; she had never been nervous around anyone before, so this was a first.

"Oh, that jock...if he bothers you again, tell him he better watch his little girl friend, cause I ain't got any problems polishing off that pretty little face of hers." Siren giggled at this, for she knew Amber had to be talking about the cheerleader from earlier today. That cheerleader deserved it.

"I don't think I'll need to," said Max, "but thanks anyways." He smiled at her; she done it again, her face flushing. This time it made her angry, and she sighed to blow off the steam.

Siren

Siren wanted to laugh at how much Amber was blushing. She had learned to keep from blushing a long time ago. Bad way to get guys thinking you like them when you don't want them to. She looked at Ben then Kevin then Max, the three guys stood at ease now seemingly comfortable. Ben had always been one of the cooler jocks and seh didn't even know if he would be one here.

"So...." She started inturupting the silence.

"What do y'all do around this sleepy old town?" Ben asked smiling at his sister.

"Not too much, really...." Then she grinned, looking over at Siren. "Unless of course you're into racing." They were heading to sixth period now, but again she would skip class, especially after this fight.

"Racing?" Siren echoed, slightly confused. She didn't expect it from people in this town. No one did really, except the few who actually raced...and the cops. Even Max seemed to look at a little lost.

"Yeah. Racing. At least that's what I do...and a few other people. I prefer to drift." She picked her Slipknot book bag up higher on her shoulder, the straps had "MAGGOT" scribbled all over them, with a ragged look.

"Well guys, you can go to sixth period if you want, but I'm gonna chill out in the parking lot. I guess I'll catch ya later if you go..." She stopped and started to turn back, waiting for a response.

"Mind if I join you?" Max asked. "I have a spare this period so I don't have anything better to do."

"OK." Amber said. She looked at Siren. "Can you find your next class by yourself?"

"I'll manage." Siren said. "You two have fun."

(This is all I can think of right now.)
