Hey YWSers!
The Instructors (yeah, those guys with the purple names) have all put our heads together and come up with a competition we think will get plenty of people interesting and as November's just around the corner it'll be a good warm-up for those novelists!

We're going to run a short story competition from 7th of September (this Friday) to 7th October.

There is no minimum or maximum words, but around 10,000 - 12,000 is more than enough!

The theme will be "beginnings" and we hope you'll really find some good scope with that!

There will be five judges, each of which will remain anonymous so they don't get pestered by entrants. The average of each of their marks will form your total score.

If you're interested, PM any of your instructors and let us know you'd like to enter!

You can PM Ducksworthy any time for information or queries.

Have fun and good luck,
The YWS Instructors.

Beginnings can be interpreted any way you wish. Perhaps it means the bith of a child or the beginning of an adventure. Really, it's a very broad topic.

I see, that really helps. Should we PM the entry, post it here, or post it in another forum and make a link here?

I'm pretty sure it doesn't matter. If it's easier for you to post a link or paste it then do so but if you're a little shy about sharing your work, you're equally welcome to pm it to one of the instructors.

Claudette - Good question and I'll let Ducksworthy answer it.

Gadi - I think the maximum is probably two entries each.
