(Well, I've finally finished summer school, which means I have more time to finish my stories, like this fan fiction. It's been about a month since I've posted the latest chapter. Well, as you may have already guessed I've been busy. For those of you who actually read this stuff, it's back!)

Chapter 12:

Tylor slowly opened his eyes to see everyone looking down at him.

“He’s finally awake.” Quistis said.

“It’s about time! We all woke up fifteen minutes before you did!” Selphie told him.

Tylor carefully got to his feet. A wave of dizziness hit him as he stood up straight. He swayed for a bit while he waited for it to pass.

“Is everyone alright?” Tylor asked.

“We’re all fine.” Squall told him.

Zell asked, “So, was it Laguna again…?”

Selphie exclaimed, “Sir Laguna’s in BIG TROUBLE! Eric pushed him off a cliff! I hope he’ll be OK…!!!”

“Doesn’t seem like the first time for you all. What is it?” Quistis asked.

Squall crossed his arms and began to think. “We’ll just be wasting our time trying to figure it out. Let’s keep going.”

Zell brought up his fist and said, “Yeah, let’s go! I think we’re almost there.”

Everyone filed out of the forest. Before Tylor left with Selphie, Zell and Quistis he noticed Rinoa and Squall talking. “Umm…Squall… I think I may have said too much. I’m sorry.” Squall waved his hand to dismiss the issue.

Galbadia Garden was a gigantic red building with a glowing blue ring over the roof. In the sky they could see students and instructors driving big flying suits. With all the instructors and chanting students it seemed more like a military base than a school. They followed the long path up to the Garden until they got to the gate.

Selphie was the first one to point out, “Wow… Completely different…”

“Sure is quiet.” Zell said.

“…I like it.” Rinoa laughed at what Squall just said.

Zell turned to Tylor and asked, “So this is where you went before you came to Balamb, eh?”

“Sure, whatever.”

“You don’t seem very enthusiastic about being here again.” Rinoa pointed out.

“Yeah,” Selphie agreed, “you sound just like Squall now!”

“…Whatever.” The others laughed. The truth was, Tylor didn’t feel like doing anything. Everything he knew about this story was changing. He didn’t know what to think anymore.

Quistis told everyone, “Could you leave this one up to me? I’ve been here several times, and I know the headmaster pretty well.” She walked to the other side of the gate. “I’ll go and explain our situation.”

As soon as she was gone Selphie asked, “Any idea where we’re supposed to wait?”

As if on cue the P.A. system turned on a said, “Attention. SeeD party from Balamb Garden: Please wait in the 2F reception room.”

Tylor looked at Selphie and asked, “That answer your question?” He turned around and started walking. “Follow me, I know where it is.”

They passed through a large circular courtyard. An orange sunbeam shone down through the large windows on the roof. As they entered a hallway with a set of stairs they noticed a group of students doing push-ups in front of an instructor. One of them stopped and watched as a girl walked by. Tylor ignored them and led the others up the stairs.

The reception room was at the top of the stairs. Everyone got comfortable once they entered the room. Zell sat on one couch and Rinoa sat on the opposing one, Selphie stood at the large windows overlooking the basketball courts. Squall leaned against the wall and Tylor saw on a nearby chair.

After a few minutes Quistis entered the room. Squall pushed himself away from the wall and asked, “How’d it go?”

“They understand our situation.” She walked over to Zell and leaned toward him. “And Balamb Garden is safe. The attack on the president in Timber was classified as an independent action. There was an official notice from the Galbadian government saying that Balamb Garden is not being held responsible.”

Zell sighed in relief. “So, Seifer’s taking all the blame?”

“The trial’s over, and the sentence has been carried out…”

Nobody said a word, the news came as too much of a shock. Rinoa kneeled on the floor and said, “…He was executed?” She stared at the floor. “…Of course he was. He attacked the president.” She pulled herself to her feet. “He sacrificed himself got the Forest Owls…”

Quistis walked over to her. “It was your group that got Seifer involved in all this. You’re a resistance faction, right? You must have been prepared for the worst. I’m sure Seifer was prepared, too. So don’t think of it as Seifer sacrificing himself for you.” Quistis sat on the couch and sighed. “I’m sorry. I guess that wasn’t much consolation.”

Tylor watched everyone’s reaction to the news. He had already known what was coming, so he wasn’t too surprised. But he couldn’t help but feeling he was cold about it because of his own reaction. He didn’t say anything.

Zell looked at his feet. “I didn’t like the guy, but executed…?”

“You really hated Seifer, didn’t you, Zell!?” Selphie shouted.

“Yeah, but… He was from Garden… He was one of us. If I can, I wanna get revenge.”

“I don’t have any good memories of him.” Quistis confessed. “I’ve seen some troubled children, but he was beyond troubled.” She looked at the floor. “Well, he wasn’t really a bad guy.”

“I…really liked him.” Rinoa confessed. “He was always full of confidence, smart… Just by talking to him, I felt like I could take on the world.”

“Your boyfriend?” Selphie asked.

“I don’t really know.” She sat on the couch. “I… I think I was in love. I wonder how he felt…?”

“Do you still like him?”

“If I didn’t, I wouldn’t be talking about it.” She grabbed her knees and started rocking back and forth on the couch. “It was last summer. I was 16, lot’s of fond memories…”

Tylor watched Squall as he began to pace the room. The look on his face was troubled.

Quistis looked at Squall and noticed his troubled state. “What’s wrong, Squall?” she asked.

He swung his arm and shouted, “I won’t have it!”

“W-What?” Zell exclaimed.

Selphie ran up to him and shouted, “Are you MAD!?”

“I’m not having anyone talk about me in the past tense!” He ran out the room before anyone could say anything.

“What’s gotten into Squall?” Quistis asked. “I’ve never seen him act like that before.”

Tylor got up from his chair and said, “He’s going through a rough time right now. I’ll go find him.”

Rinoa stopped him before he left. “Tylor, wait. Don’t you have anything to say about Seifer?”

He had a million things to say, one of which is the fact that he isn’t dead. But, he couldn’t tell them that. They’d have to find out for themselves sooner or later. He looked over his shoulder and said, “There’s nothing I can say that will help any of you feel better.” He left without saying another word.

He let out a weary sigh when the door closed behind him. He didn’t know how long he could hold out. Every hour he spent in this world drained away his will; sooner or later he will act the same way Squall had just now. But he knew he had to stay strong if he was going to live through this.

Fujin and Raijin ran past him in the hall, they didn’t even notice Tylor because they were in such a hurry. At first he wondered why they were here, then he remembered they were here to give a message to Squall and the others. He followed them until they approached Squall in the circular courtyard. Tylor leaned on a nearby wall and listened.

“What are you guys doing here?” Squall asked.

“What am I doin’?” Raijin asked. “I’m a messenger, ya know?” He and Fujin nodded to each other. “Brought you a new order from Headmaster Cid, ya know?”

“What kind of order?” Squall asked.

“I dunno. Gave it to the head honcho here. Just did what Headmaster Cid wanted, ya know?”

“Explain.” Fujin ordered.

“We were suppose’ta go to Timber. But the trains have stopped, so we had no other choice but to come here. Kinda relieved to see you guys here.”

Fujin looked around and asked, “Seifer?”

“Oh yeah! Wasn’t Seifer with you?”

Tylor approached them from behind and said, “He’s dead.”

Fujin and Raijin looked at him in surprise. “You’re not serious, ya know?”

“He was tried in Galbadia and then executed.”

“Lies!”

Raijin laughed deep and loud. “That’s gotta be a lie, ya know!? There’s no way he’d put up with a trial, ya know!? Or an execution for that matter! It’s just so no Seifer, ya know!?”

“Find!”

“O’What…! We’re gonna meet up with Seifer? Well, see ya, Squall, Tylor. We’re gonna head off to Galbadia to look for Seifer.” They ran off to find the exit.

As they left Tylor came up to Squall and placed his hand on his shoulder. “It’s not shameful what you did back there. Nobody can keep their emotions bottled up forever, no matter how strong they are.”

Squall brushed Tylor’s hand off his shoulder. “Whatever…”

“If it’s any consolation, I liked the guy too.” Squall stared at him for a moment. “He may be a jerk, but he has a strong heart. So do you Squall.”

The P.A. turned on and said, “All Balamb SeeD members: Report to the front gate.”

Tylor pat Squall’s shoulder one last time and said, “Come on, the others are waiting for us.”

Really short, and I am a bit confused at to what's going on. Perhaps you give some more detail about Seifer's excution and everything that took place. Also the Garden is strange, but why? Things are just not adding up and it creates more questions then answers.

I would have really liked a better description then just learning he's dead and that's the information. I don't remember a trial taking place or anything like that from the last chapter, so it seems a bit awkward to just find out about it now.

Also if the group just came from Timber by train and went to the Garden how long could that have possibily been? Seriously, unless this supposed trial was a 'Guilty, that is all' and moved right to the execution it would not make sense or even be possible on the time frame the story pace is moving at.
