Yes, it seems sudden considering that I haven't even posted the results of my last contest, but this one's too awesome to pass up.
So, as for word limit, or formats, or structure, this contest has none.
Your challenge is thus:
If Snape were to write a poem, what would he write?
OR:
Click here to see the hidden message (It might contain spoilers)
Compose an epitaph for Snape. No, it need not have been written by himself.
Prizes will be as follows:
1st Place: Being declared The Embodiment of Snape, He/She Whose Name Is 'Awesome'. Oh yeah, and 4 crits :p
2nd Place. 3 crits
3rd place: 2 crits
and a crit for all who enter.
This contest will end on September 1st, when the winner will get to board the Hogwarts express and present their piece to Snape... if only in dreams.
Good luck
EDIT: You are allowed 2 entries, but you may only place once.
EDIT: IMPORTANT!!
Put any poems or comments that contain even the slightest spoilers in spoiler tags![/spoiler] |

| Whoa! When you say "present to Snape," do you mean this is an official contest and we meet Alan Rickman, or what? (and yes, I did read the spoiler bit you posted--still confused). |

Yeah, I wish.
Hey, can a body enter more than one poem? I'm not sure what style I want to try... |

Yay! I've got two poems anyway, so that's perfect.

One's like an epitath that would appear on his tomb, the other's something he himself might have written--about Lily. Should I post them here?

| You may either post them here, both as spoilers, or PM them to me. |

Epithaph
Here lies a man who loved
One woman, deeper than his fear.
A man who hated
With passion unsurpassed.
A man who dreamed
Of what could never be.
A man who risked
More than his life for those
Who never knew.

Lily
Green eyes that haunt,
Emeralds that pierce my soul,
Shining out ‘neath locks
Of ruby red and sunlit gold.
Disgraceful love, for though my veins
Hold only half a Prince,
Her blood is clogged with Muggle dirt,
And yet: those mud-born lips I long to kiss.
Unlovely and unloved I know I am,
But if a fool may dream,
Let magic deeper than my wand
Pull her to me, make her my Queen.
The very worst of rivals bars my way;
He who is possessed of all I lack.
His smile, his skill, his charm all hold her gaze,
And on her faithful friend she turns her back.
And yet I love her, yet I linger still,
Watch from the shadows, pray for just a smile,
And if there is one wish I might dare breath:
Let me but watch, and worship for awhile.
Edit: changed first entry with help from Cadmium! |

Isn't any one else going to post something? Or at least comment on my posts? |

Ooh, this looks like fun, Ed! Maybe I'll enter if I can actually WRITE something. I've been having such difficulty this summer, but maybe my grief over the end of the series will help a bit...

Err, gyrfalcon, contest threads aren't typically a place to find critiques. If you'd like feedback on the pieces, I'd recommend posting them on the literary boards. Just be sure to give ample spoiler warning
Colly, I'll totally be looking forward to your entry |

I've posted my entry here.
I may write another one, but I'm pleased with this, considering how long it took me to write. (I completed it in about ten minutes, including research.)
edit: important question under the spoiler tag!
Click here to see the hidden message (It might contain spoilers)
Is the poem supposed to be something he'd write, or something to go on his tombstone? Either? Both?
