I made my way back to my room at the inn. I took my dagger out of the sheath and placed it at a close table. I knocking came from my door. "What is it?"

My door was suddenly knocked down and I had a hairy creature on me that was a Werewolf. The creature kept attacking my neck but I kept trying to push him off.

I took a small silver knife out of my boot and stabbed the Werewolf in the gut. Slowly the died and I pushed him off. "Damned creature," I said leaving the creature there.

Eve smiled and put it in her pocket, "thanks," she yawned again. "I think I'm going to just go home for now, I'll turn these in tomorrow." She stood on her tiptoes and gave him a kiss on the cheek.

He blushed, and so did she. But she turned and walked out before he got a chance to see it, "bye Corelle!" she shouted as she closed the door.

"Bye, Eve."

Corelle stood in the middle of the living room. Not knowing what really happened as shock was going through him. He shook his head. He walked back into the kitchen and put the mugs into the sink. Eve and him had known each other for years. Ever since he got out of the military. He was washing the mugs when he saw a shadow outside on his balcony. He dried his hands then went to the oven and recovered his blade. He silently went to the door and opened it. Nothing. He went back inside and left it open a crack knowing that something was there. He heard a snort and knew instantly that a Boar demon was there. Corelle turned his back and then the crash of glass caused him to turn around. The Boar demon stood there. Its beady eyes staring at Corelle. Its black fur seemed to shine and it was frothing at the mouth. Corelle guessed it ran a long way to be doing that. The Boar swung its blade at Corelle but he had ducked so it missed by mere centimeters. Corelle plunged his blade into the stomach of the beast but it just seemed even angrier.

Eve got half way down the stairs when she heard a crash. She sprinted back to Corelle's apartment, where the noise seemed to have come from.

When she saw the boar she flung herself at it, knocking it off Cor. It didn't seem to like that. It turned and threw itself back at Eve.

Corelle had recovered and grabbed his blade again. He ran the blade through the demons chest, where his heart was. It died in an instant.

Eve struggled away from under it and embraced Corelle, holding onto him tightly.

Corelle dropped his blade and hugged her back.
"I thought you left," Corelle said.
"I WAS leaving when I heard this noise from your apartment, so I ran back up here to find you and a Boar going at it. Trouble seems to follow you everywhere," she said as she laughed a little.
"Yes it does. Yes it does," Corelle said.

They stayed like that for a while, and it became slightly akward. Eve finally got the nerve to break the hug and went over to the boar demon, and took out her knife.

"Hello shopping spree," she said as she cut the ear off.

When she got it off, it was still bloody and Corelle handed her a plastic bag.

"Thanks," she pocketed the ear, and got all the nerve she had and said, "Um... Corelle would you like to go to dinner sometime?"

Corelle stood with his mouth open. He was slightly taken back by the question.
"Uh...sure. When would you like to go?" he asked her.
"I don't mind really," she replied hiding a smile. "How about tommorow? I'll be getting paid so I can go shop and....yeah."

Eve held her extream happiness until she was in the stairway.

"Yes!" She threw her arms up in the air and jumpped down twelve steps to the bottom.

finally she was free of Joseph! Even if he did come back and begged for forgiveness (which in no century he would ever do) she wouldn't give it to him.

Just as she was about to go down the next flight she heard a voice behind her, "are you so sure about that?"

She turned and was face to face with Joseph. She tried to ignore him and walked down the next flight, he caught her arm and pulled her back

"Stop it Joseph," she said trying to brush him off. "I am free of you."

He salked her to the corner, she was trapped, "don't think you can get away that easily."

"Go away Joseph."

"Or what?"

"Or I'll kill you."

He laughed, his face an inch away from hers, "you can't kill me, even if you tried."

He held her against the wall, and she felt the cold grinding into her skin, "Joseph, you're hurting me."

Corelle ran into the stairwell, holding her purse, which she must've left in his apartment.

(I hope I'm not intruding on your part of the story.)

A gunshot exploded from above and blew open a hole in the wall close to Joseph's head. In the window above the landing stood a cloaked man with a silver handgun fixed on Joseph's head.

"Step away from the human, Joseph." The man said in a low tone.

Joseph hissed. "Vince. I thought I had killed you in that fire two years ago."

"Those with strong hearts will always survive, now move." Joseph released Eve and backed away. His eyes never left the newcomer.

"Eve!" Corelle came running when he heard the gunshots. He noticed the newcomer in the large window. "Why is Hunter here?"

(What is Joseph anyway? Is he a vampire or just anothr human?)

(Oh, well, I don't think I remember you saying anything about him so can you PM me an explanation about him so I can add him to Vince's past properly?)

Eve quickly scurried away from Joseph and over to Corelle. She was shaking, that surprised him. He had never known her to be easily afraid. He had to be really bad news.

"Eve are you okay?"

She nodded slightly, "I didn't think he'd come back."

Corelle's hand was in his pocket fingering a combat knife. He handed Eve her purse but was still staring at the spot where Joseph disappeared.
"Who or what is he, Eve?" Corelle asked.
"He's a...nobody. Nevermind," she said her voice shaking a little.
"Why don't you use guns?" the Hunter asked Corelle.
"Because I despise them. There was another...like me and I had to kill him. That's why the project failed," Corelle answered giving no sign of continuing. The Hunter was gone in an instant. Not a trace was left behind.
"I should go," Eve said turning towards Corelle, clutching her purse as if it was a lifeline.

"I'll walk you home," Corelle offered.

"No!" Eve said a tad too abruptly, "I mean... that would be nice, thanks."

"Alright."

They walked down the stairs, Eve just as jittery as ever. "Eve whats the deal with that guy? I've never known you to be easily freaked out."

She sighed and told him about Joseph, how they met, how they fell in love, how he went nutso freako, and how they ended up here.

"I didn't think he was going to come back, had I known I would've remembered to grab my purse."

"Why?"

"We're danger magnets, and I didn't want to put it any closer to you than necessary. Because when I'm with you...I feel better than I ever have."

She mentally smacked herself upside the head after saying that.

Vince watched the two humans from a rooftop as they walked down the street together. Finding Joseph would be an important mission for him, that man has a hand in keeping the gates open so he would know how to close them. But, protecting the innocent always took priority for Vince.

The way the two humans walked together reminded him of a time when he was in love, and how that love was taken away from him in a blink of an eye. It had been almost a century yet the memories of that day still pierces his heart like a blade.

"I wasn't expecting to see you here, watching a couple of humans on a date."

Vince didn't so much as tilt his head to see who was behind him. He already knew. "Good timing, Zora. I have a mission which will require both our strengths."

"And what's that?" she asked curiously.

"Remember when I told you I did not know how to close the gates?"

"Yeah."

"Things have changed, and I think I've found the answer to that question." He turned to face her. "But I need your help to find those answers."
