Alright, roleplay, k? basically, you create some thief or assasin or something. You can be anything you want; this doesn't have to be fantasy, but if you want to be an elf or an orc or a sorcerer, knock yourself out! If you don't want to be an assasin or thief, you can be a soldier or something who's trying to track them down and put them under arrest
You can creat a minimum of five characters.

Right! the story...

Caden stepped into the deserted inn, flinging his cape off his shoulders and tossing it carelessly in front of the fire. He was dressed from head to toe in shadow-black, complete with long black hair tied up in a loose horsetail at the nape of his neck. His eyes were dark blue, twinkling with a childish mischeif as his gaze finally fell on the old man at the bar.

"I see you've done a good job keeping everyone away," Caden said with a smile.

the old man looked up and smiled. "I work hard to do so," he said. Then the smile wore off. "But a few of the King's men came sniffing around in here. They're pretty close on our scent."

Caden smirked. "I'd like to see them try and catch us, Molton," he said. "We're going in a loop; didn't they just come around about a month or so ago?"

The old man shrugged. He was thin, but not frail, old but spry, and his voice was soft, but it carried a definate sense of authority. his hair was white with stripes of grey, with a deep widow's peak.

"King's men are changing," he muttered, picking up a rag and walking over to clean a table. "They used to be polite about it. 'hello, sir, we are part of the king's own guard, sir, may we look around, sir?' But today, they just pushed by me with a grunt and started nosing around. They cracked the window, did you notice?"

"That was them?" Caden turned to gaze worriedly at the crack in the window. "How long were they here?"

Molton shrugged and moved to another table. "Too long for comfort."

"Did they find anything?"

"No, of course not." Molton glanced up at Caden with a grin. "You and your thieves are decent at hiding things, i admit it."

Caden smirked triumphantly. Molton didn't like what outlaws did, but he liked the people that they were, and that was good enough for him.

"Did you find a satisfying place to rob?" Molton said, suddenly bitter. he scrubbed the tabletop as if he wanted to rub a role straight through.

Caden shrugged, watching the old man carefully. "I don't see why you're so against it. Theiving's a trade like any other."

"Oh, it's a trade, just not an honest trade," Molton snapped. "Besides, it's dangerous. you nearly got your ear cut off, or did you forget?"

Caden traced the long scar that ran from his scalp, through his ear (which was now useless for hearing), and down to his chin. he smiled wryly. "Danger and I are not strangers," he said carelessly. "in fact, were pretty good friends."

Molton only sighed and went on cleaning the table. Caden was as close to a son as he'd ever get. He had taken him in from the streets when he was a toddling child and raised him himself. He wanted to dissuade Caden from being such a lawless person. Instead, he said, "Where are the others?"

Caden shrugged, still grining like a tomcat. "I don't know. probably releiving a poor, laden man of a few coins." He pulled out a bluging, heavy sack that jingled merrily.

Molton sighed, but he said nothing.

No character bio for Caden?

Name= River.
Age= 21.
Race= Elf.
Hair= Dark blue, so dark that it passes for black on a moonless night.
Eyes= A medium blue with a touch of purple.
Figure= Very slight build and she'squick and light on her feet.
Complexion= Pale with no freckles but not quite flawless. She has a scar that runs across the back of her neck. Luckily, it's not easily visible against her pale skin.
History= River knows little about her parents, only that they died on the street when she was very small and a gang of thieves took her in. Life on the streets has been hard but River is a strong character. She does not lack morals but neither is she willing to starve while others have more than enough.
Other= River has a great singing voice and, due to her Elfish blood, good eyesight and speed. The scar on her neck is from what was almost a hanging some years back but er friends came to the rescue.

if you want a bio for Caden, i'll give you a bio.

Name: Caden
Race: human
Gender: male
age: 17
appearance: rather tall, with long black hair and dark blue eyes. has a long scar from his scalp through his ear to his chin. usually smiling sardonically
personality: easy-going, usually, but he guards his past carefully, and if he feels someone's trying to get into it, he's suddenly very dark and cynic.
history: Raised by Molton (who found him when he was about 2), whom he considers his father. when he was nine, he was either kidnapped or ran away, nobody knows which. he came back five years later, though, pretty shaken up, with a healing wound on the side of his head. After that, he became a thief and has been a thief ever since. won't tell anyone about those five years, but he doesn't rest easy at night.
xtra: he has a knife that's about a foot and a half, but he never uses it, except for picking locks and such.

and here's one for Molton, too.

name: Molton
Race: human
Gender: male
age: unknown, but he's old.
appearance: tall and lank, with long white hair with a deep widow's peak and black eyes. doesn't smile much.
personality: a natural leader. everyone respects him. he can solve and argument peacfully and break up fights very well. he's not really a bitter or sad person, just not exessivly happy. Doesn't really like people who break the law for a living, but they are good people, and he is careful that they don't get caught.
history: like Caden, he guards it carefully. Nobody knows much about it, not even Caden, except that he was born in one of the northern countries. Doesn't have an accent, though, which baffles some people.
xtra: owns the inn that serves as the outlaws' sanctuary. most of them spend the night there, but some have places of their own.

I didn't need one, I was merely curious as to why you hadn't posted one... It's nice to have one though Smile

River

The moonlight filtered through the dusty atmosphere to caress my kindred skin. With the cobbled street below my bare feet and a gentle breeze lifting my long hair towards the sky I stood before the man-hole cover and peered into the shadows. A flicker of movement to my right outlined a cat and the distant tread of footsteps reached my ear but they came from down below. From the city below the city.

Smiling to myself, I eased the metal cover aside and dropped my bag into the awaiting abyss. It landed with a satisfactory splash and then I slipped down onto the ladder. From that position it took mere moments to drag the iron disc back into place and then I was able to join my bag at the bottom of the sewer. You're probably thinking 'Yuck that's disgusting.' And yes, fifty years back it probably was but now this sewer is no longer in use and we have made it our home. The liquid that my feet touch is just water. Rain water that has slipped through cracks in the various openings.

I collect my bag from the floor and creep allong the tunnel, through the maze of passageways that I've come to know well. Right turn here, left there and then straight ahead. More twists and turns before a door looms into place. Well it's sort of a door. Okay so it's a piece of cloth draped from the tunnel roof but it works well enough.I approach this piece of cloth and wait.
"Name and business," A voice calls from the other side.
"It's River. I wanted to spend the night here," I reply and am soon admitted into a dim 'room.'

Once, the sewer ended here but that was before the thieves guild was found. Before the city below the city was built. This room was dug out by outcasts before me and leads to many others. Rooms for trading items, rooms for sleeping in, rooms for drinking, rooms for gambling, rooms for just about anything. I smile at a few familiar faces and then casually head for my room. No one will harm me down here or try to steal from me. It's against the thieves code. No one goes against the thieves code.

Liskano entered the dark pub. Everyone looked at him, but quickly whent back to their business. He went up to the bar and sat down and the bartender walked up and asked, "What can I get you?"

"I'm be looking for a guy named Caden."

"What it be to you?"

"I have my own reasons," he slipped the bartender a gold coin.

"I might know him," Liskano slipped him another coin. "Ok, I know him, but I don't know where he is, truly. But for a little extra coins I might be able to tell you where there is a chance you might find him."

A coin appeared on the table. "Where?'

"It's the Underground City, I got the entrance in the back of my shop for a little more coin," I knife quickly appeared in Liskano's hand, "or I'll just show you there for free this way," please.

"Why didn't you go underground before visiting me?" Molton asked, giving Caden a watered-dwon drink.

Caden stared into the tankard and wrinkled his nose, but arguing with Molton was not very wise, so he sighed and drank the subdued wine without complaint. "I want to know what's going on," he said, when he had finished. "You know better than anyone what's going on with the thieves below."

Molton shrugged. "Three things," he said. "One, Charcol stole from another thief today."

Caden clenched his jaw and gripped the tankard till his knuckles went white. "That's the third time," he said. Nothing ever made him more furious than someone breaking the thievs' code. "We should turn him into the king. let him get hanged."

Molton pursed his lips. "If we do that, he'll tell the king everything about the underground city. The thieves down there will get caught."

"I know," Caden said casually, his eyes cold. "We'll cut out his tongue. he won't be able to tell them anything."

Molton winced. when it came to criminal criminals, Caden became as unfeeling as a rock. it unnerved him. "I still think it's rather a cruel and unusual to do," he said.

"We can't have thieves among thieves," Caden insisted. "It would be chaos. He's had two tries before; we can't have him in our sanntuary."

"One more chance."

Caden gazed at him for a moment, then sighed and nodded. "Alright," he said tersely. "But he'd better not blow it."

Molton smiled, relieved. "The second thing," he said, "Grey was caught."

Caden tried to look angry, but he couldn't. "There's a reckless thief if I ever saw one," he muttered. "I wish that girl would use some common sense once in a while."

"So you'll get her out?"

"Of course I'll get her out!" Caden exclaimed, getting up and starting to pace. "But i'll skin her for the time and trouble!" He succeeded in sounding angry, but Molton took one look at his face and knew otherwise.

"What's the third thing?" Caden asked casually.

Molton gazed at him for a moment, then asked, "how long has it been since you saw River?"

Caden chuckled. "Haven't seen that girl for three days. Probably up to no good, like the rest of us."

"do you know where she went?" Molton asked.

Caden scoffed. "Of course not. Does anyone pry into your or my business when we've been gone a few days?"

"The king pays handsomly for nonhuman thieves who are found," Molton said gravely. "I think we should know about all of our nonhuman thieves' business. If they went away on business, and were captured, we wouldn't be able to help them."

Caden stopped pacing, then sighed. "You don't go around asking thieves about their doings," he said. "It's not a thieves' code, but it might as well be one of those unwritten ones."

Molton shrugged. "I've no doubt that hardy thieves like River and Charcol could take care of themselves." he said, then instantly regretted mentioning Charcol. Caden's face darkened, and Molton hastily carried on. "But we have younger ones that are too anxious and impatient and will get sacked right and left by the king if we are not careful."

Caden shrugged, then grinned sardonically at Molton. "We're a clever bunch of thieves," he said. "We'll figure something out between us all."

Molton nodded. "Are you satisfied?"

Caden shrugged. "I'm going to talk to Charcol for a little bit," he declared. "And tell him how unsatisfied I am about his opinions about the thieves' code. And I'm going to see if I can get a crew that will help me get Grey out of prison before they hang her or something."

Molton nodded. "Good. need anything else? tools need mending, your boots getting too old and making too much noise...?"

"I'm good," Caden said simply. "Thank you. May business be bad!"

Molton chuckled. "I hope."

Caden went down the hall and into the cellar, where a hidden trapdoor led to the underbround city.

As soon as he reached the ground Liskano amedietly knew this was a place where not a lot of people came. Keeping a hand near the hilt of his sword he slowly walked down the trail.

He passed a few shady looking people, all of whom kept to themselves. When he reached a small stall he stopped and looked at the man. "Do you know a man who be named Caden?" Liskano asked slipping a coin onto the stall.

"I might, what is your business with him?"

"I'll be keeping that to myself," and he slipped another coin onto the table.

"I don't know, he's popular around here, but he usually keeps to himself, where I don't know."

"Dammit," Liskano cursed and walked away from the stall.

"You know Grey, Don't you?" Caden asked a thief, sitting across from him in an underground pub. Caden had put on a black mask and kept his knife in his hand, to make people think he was an assasin or mercenary.

The man nodded, eagerly. "The pretty gal, right?'

Caden smiled behind the mask, but he kept his voice grim. "She's been captured, and I want to get her out before things get ugly."

"So you want me to help you?" the man asked, rasing an eyebrow.

"You've been on jailbreaks before with me," Caden replied, cooly. "I trust you haven't lost your flair?"

the man chuckled. "Alright, I'll come. When do you plan on going?"

"As soon as possible," Caden replied. "I hope you'll be ready by tomarrow night?"

"'course."

"Good. I'll meet then." he stood up and gave the man enough money to buy him several drinks. "Until then."

"Wait," he said quickly. he beckoned Caden to come closer, who sighed and sat back down. THe man bent close to him and whispered, "A man's been looking for you."

Caden was instantly attentive. "Who?"

"Dunno; never says his name."

"What does he look like?"

"Dunno; he hides his face." then, seeing Caden grunt in exasperation, added quickly, "But he wears a black cloak."

"everyone wears a black cloak," he sighed. "Thanks for telling me, though; I'll be on my guard."

"And Charcol--"

"yes, I heard about that. I meant to take care of it, but it seems it will have to wait." he got to his feet and tossed a few more gold coins to the man, then quickly left, slipping his knife back into his belt.

YAY!!!!

Name:Grey
Race: Human
sex: female
age: 15
occupation: petty thief and pick pocket
looks: long, auburn hair and smoke-grey eyes. Grey is small for her age, but she is quick and agile with long, nimble fingers. some say she is built for thieving.
history: mother died in childbirth, father worked breeding horses, so she has very good at horsemanship. unfortuantely, when she was eight years old, her father fell off a horse, which ran over him and killed him. left with no other relations, she went to thieving, but was almost caught her first try. however, Caden came and helped her escape. she's been getting better and better, she's just very impatient and rash.
personality: doesn't take anything seriously, always making jokes. doesn't care whether anyone knows her past or not. she has nothing to hide.

"Some say he's going to save this one girl, her name is Grey," said the guy in the pub.

"Do you know when this saving be taking place?" asked Liskano.

"No, but I can tell you to wait by the king's jail house if you have any hope of finding him."

"Thanks," said Liskano, tossed the guy a few coins, and left the pub.

I hope you're not thinking of a love interest, Mariah...lol jk

Caden walked through the maze of the underground city, looking for more people that would help him get Grey. he already had three people, and he wanted at least one more.

Then he saw a woman walking down a street, and he smiled. "Amber!" he called.

The woman turned and rasied an eyebrow at him. "I haven't seen you down here for some time," she said.

Caden shrugged. Amber didn't trust him, and normally he didn't trust her, but she and Grey had been exceptionally close friends.

"Did you hear the news? Grey's been captured," he said. "I want to get her out. will you help?"
