| Gold is the metal that vampires have a unhealthy reaction to, because it reminds them of the day. Smart of Blanche to turn into a golden necklace, thought Selena, eyes scanning the darkness for the first traces of their nocturnal guests. |

| Ishtar saw the golden necklace and sent a mortal out to fetch it. "If she transforms back just drop her and come back inside. At that point our people can handle it. We just can't deal with the gold. |

Selena stepped between the human and the changeling and growled, glaring. The human backed away slowly.
"Where is the girl from the forest?" Selena demanded. |

The human stared at something above Selena's head, and she heard the sound of the changeling transforming into something else.
The human backed away slowly, and Selena glanced up. No wonder.
Blanche was now a gold and white-thorned scourge, hovering menacingly above the branch.
"Tell me, human, before I tell her to have fun," growled Selena, falling into a hunting pose.
"The v-v-vampires!" stuttered the human, before running back into the building. |

Ishtar loved the way that they were handleing this. Annoyed she walked outside to join the confrontation and to answer the changlings question. "She's upstairs in a vampire proof room."
"How do you expect us to believe you?"
"Because I have nothing to gain by lying to you. There are over a few dozen vampires in there, and would come to my aid whenever necessary." She leaned in closer, "So you can take comfort in the knowledge that lying to you would get me no where and would just be as waste of time. If she were dead I would gladly take you to her and show you. But nay, she isn't dead and probably isn't asleep either.
"I cannot say I blame her, my first few nights here before i was changed were terrifying, I couldn't sleep at all. But tomorrow you may escort her home if you like. Now either come in or begone" |

((cough. Selena is a werecat, Blanche is the changeling. Blanche can't talk when she's transformed. Thought I should clear that up  )))
"There is no middle ground?" asked Blanche, turning back to her natural form and looking somewhat bored, sitting with her back against the trunk.
Ishtar smiled, revealing pointy teeth.
"I'm afraid not, changeling. So be gone with you."
Selena glanced up at Blanche, and saw her saying something in her eyes. It was hard to tell exactly what. |

"You can be at ease with her here."
"Do you have any idea what was chasing her and why?" Selena asked one eyebrow raised. |

"All I could smell was her adrenilne and fear. I had to help her. That's all I know." She stood up and walked back inside, leaving the door ajar incase they decided to join her. The four vampires followed.
"So what is with that mortal anyways?" her love Adrian said.
"Not sure, but we've got to help her somehow." She leaned up and kissed him.
"If you get hurt because of-"
"Don't worry Adrian, I won't get hurt. And neither will you." Adrian still wasn't sure. |

"I think that she will be safe until dawn, at least," said Blanche, scratching her chin in an uncharacteristic gesture of thoughtfulness.
"What gives you that idea?" growled the wolf.
"I've had a lot of dealings with the vampires," smiled Blanche, sharp, changeling teeth glimmering in the moonlight. "They're bound by ancient magic to keep to their word. It's very hard for them to lie."
"Do you know how they can break that...'oath'?" asked Selena, actually quite interested.
"Yup...but it's rather disgusting." Blanche squirmed and made a face. "In any case, by dawn their Bloody Mary drinks will be drained and the girl will be released."
"I think we should keep an eye on this place until daybreak," hissed Selena. "I noticed silver doorknobs and knockers. Blanche, check the windows."
"Don't be silly, Sel, it's a vampire club. They wouldn't risk windows." said Blanche, before blurring into a white squirrel and scampering up the side of the building, just in case. |

Eryc blinked.
So many people had made him edgy.
He turned to the werecat.
"Look away... please. This is not pretty."
Selena turned away.
Eryc took his more canine shape.
"Not as practical, but no human could crush a man's head in his jaws."
Selena pulled a face. "Keep those disgusting facts to yourself."
Eryc sighed, and without another word, trotted towards the door.
Taking a deep breath, and not smelling any open anger of adrenaline inside, entered the building. |

Selena sighed and followed the dog. If anything, he could block the first attack, if the vampires ever attacked.
Inside, the vampires eyed the dog. He definitely wasn't trying to be inconspicuous, though the bats already knew what they were.
"A werecat and a werewolf; never in my hundred years." One bat mumbled.
Selena eyed each and every one of the bats. |
