Why I write:

I love writing poetry, and it tends to come fairly easy to me. I'm also a huge fantasy fan, and a lot of these poems are (somewhat, depending on the poem/style) points in time/events/places that I am going to have in my world that I am building. I want to write a novel some day, and this is part of my 'research' into the setting. Some examples of this are like "Over the Hills and Far Away" is describing the setting of an island where the main character might go, or be mentioned in a conversation he overhears. The poem "The Clocktower" is about a mass-suicide event that happens due to a curse being placed on the clocktower, and the few survivors, now refugees, might be telling the story to gaurds trying to get into the capital for purification, or something like that. At this stage, nothing is truly set in stone, but I hope to eventually create a rich and vibrant world (that probably has darker tones/undertones) worthy of classic high fantasy!
