I'm wanting to write a story with vampires but I don't exactly know what the plot should be or anything. I have names and a prologue but I don't know how to start the first chapter cuz I don't have a plot. Any suggestions? |

Right, get a piece of paper (or better yet, a notepad) and a pen.
Put them in front of you and stare at them helplessly.
Turn some music on, and pace around your bedroom, and just think about your story.
If something comes to mind, jot it down.
Okay, you should now hopefully have a very loose idea of what you wish to do.
Now start playing with plot line. Simplify it as much as possible (you could even do an entire chapter with just one bullet point).
For example:
- Hero is in enemy base. Trapped. Being chased. Hiding and killing.
- Hero escapes from base. Horse chase.
- Hero gets back to own base. Tells leaders what he's found.
Those three bullet points are three different chapters.
Everytime you realise you don't like where the story is going, cross out the chapters that you dislike and try taking the story in a different direction.
Once you've got your basic plot down, you have to go into more detail. So, you take each of those chapters and then write another brief plan, telling how that goes out.
For example:
Chapter One:
- Description of base.
- Hero sees freind killed.
- Hero hides on roof.
- Jumps down and kills enemy.
That would carry on, until you felt that chapter one is complete. Then you do chapter two, then three and so on. If new ideas come, don't be afraid to stray slightly away from the origional plot.
You now have a fairly detailed plot line. Just write up your story in full, using the last set of bullet points as a guide. Once again, if a new idea comes to you, don't be afraid to add it in.
Of course, that's just how I go around planning my plot. No doubt everyone has their own way. |

| Well Kay, if you gave us a list of characters to work with, as well as the time period, etc, that your story takes place in, we might be better able to help you... |

Have a war between vampires and a society of guardians. Make it bloody. Not all vampires have to be bad. As for names, i like to look up words in a thesaurus or dictionary and get cool sounding words for character's names. Also, they're vampires so make sure they're accomplished at whatever they do in the story. That's just what i think though, it's your story.

The problem with vampire stories is that every known aspect has or, I think, has been written about.
What might be an interesting piece of writing is how the vampire came to be known? Meaning, how was a vampire really born? The myth is if your bitten by one, you transform, right? But obviously there had to be a vampire that first created the race; a 'pure-blood.' Where did this pure-blood come from?
My other thoughts, if you decide to take this route is that latin could be very useful, I think, in describing its orgins, what vampire actually means in latin, ect.
Good luck. |

*smirks* Ah, but I felt it would be rude to inforce any more of my theories. After all, I didn't want to spoil the fun by giving too much information. Thought it might destroy the creative process. I think I've read and seen every vampire movie known to man, so yes, you're right. There is more to it then the bite. Enjoy, Kay Kay. |
