What is Member of the Week?
The Member of the Week contest is used to distinguish those members who have clearly went above and beyond in their contributions to the Young Writers Society.
How is Member of the Week decided?
First, in order to be considered for Member of the Week, you must be a member of YWS for at least a month.
At the end of each week, the moderators will discuss amongst themselves about who they think deserves Member of the Week. It is then up to the site admins as to which nominated member will become Member of the Week
How can I become Member of the Week?
In deciding the nominations, a number of things will be looked at by the moderators. One will be: how active has the user been? For instance, a member with 200 posts is much more likely to be nominated than a member with 50 posts. Also, the quality of those posts will be examined, as will be the type of posts. For instance, more weight will be given to those members who have submitted more poems and stories than topics in the Lounge.
Lastly, but most importantly, members will be nominated based on their overall contributions to the board. For instance, members who have created contests, repeatedly welcome new users, and have offered their help in improving the forum will be given more weight vis-a-vis those who have not. Additionally, and most importantly, those members who repeatedly give good critiques will be given preference.
What does the Member of the Week win?
The Member of the Week will be featured in the "Featured Member" block on the front page.
Can I win Member of the Week more than once?
Of course. Just because you were already the Member of the Week does not mean you weren't also the Member of the Week for another week. However, you cannot win Member of the Week twice in a row. |
