It was overplayed, but the lyrics were great; so poetic and original, right? Wrong. If you compare the lyrics of "Here I Go Again" by Whitesnake with the Green Day Song "Boulevard Of Broken Dreams", notice see any similiarities?

Here I Go Again

I don’t know where I’m going
But I sure know where I’ve been
Hanging on the promises
In songs of yesterday
And I’ve made up my mind
I ain’t wasting no more time

But here I go again
Here I go again

Though I keep searching for an answer
I never seem to find what I’m looking for
Oh lord I pray
You give me strength to carry on
’Cause I know what it means
To walk along the lonely street of dreams

And here I go again on my own
Going down the only road I’ve ever known
Like a drifter I was born to walk alone
And I’ve made up my mind
I ain’t wasting no more time

I’m just another heart in need of rescue
Waiting on love’s sweet charity
And I’m gonna hold on
For the rest of my days
’Cause I know what it means
To walk along the lonely street of dreams

And here I go again on my own
Going down the only road I’ve ever known
Like a drifter I was born to walk alone
And I’ve made up my mind
I ain’t wasting no more time

But here I go again
Here I go again
Here I go again
Here I go

'Cause I know what it means
To walk along the lonely street of dreams

And here I go again on my own
Going down the only road I’ve ever known
Like a drifter I was born to walk alone
’Cause I know what it means
To walk along the lonely street of dreams

And here I go again on my own
Going down the only road I’ve ever known
Like a drifter I was born to walk alone
And I’ve made up my mind
I ain’t wasting no more time

Boulevard Of Broken Dreams

I walk a lonely road
The only one that I have ever known
Don't know where it goes
But it's home to me and I walk alone

I walk this empty street
On the Boulevard of Broken Dreams
Where the city sleeps
and I'm the only one and I walk alone

I walk alone
I walk alone

I walk alone
I walk a-

My shadow's the only one that walks beside me
My shallow heart's the only thing that's beating
Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me
'Til then I walk alone

I'm walking down the line
That divides me somewhere in my mind
On the border line
Of the edge and where I walk alone

Read between the lines
What's f*cked up and everything's alright
Check my vital signs
To know I'm still alive and I walk alone

I walk alone
I walk alone

I walk alone
I walk a-

My shadow's the only one that walks beside me
My shallow heart's the only thing that's beating
Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me
'Til then I walk alone

I walk alone
I walk a-

I walk this empty street
On the Boulevard of Broken Dreams
Where the city sleeps
And I'm the only one and I walk a-

My shadow's the only one that walks beside me
My shallow heart's the only thing that's beating
Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me
'Til then I walk alone

[i probably didn't need to bold everything, but, oh well. I love Green Day so I was kind of upset when I noticed this. Still, they have aload of other good songs- just thought i'd point this out Smile]

Grr...yeah...

Actually, a lot of it sounds like 'Brain Stew' too. Which I didn't like anyway...Razz

So, when they take inspiration from other people it sucks. They shoulda learned that by now...hehe...

With the number of sounds around, there are bound to be similarities. Maybe Green Day doesn't listen to Whitesnake- they'd still be original.

"Here I Go Again" was a cool song. I can even sing it! But I kept forgetting Greenday's "Boulevard." Not really... memorable.

Yeah, Boulevard Of Broken dreams gets on my nerves...
I haven't heard "Here I Go Again" before, or even the band/singer Whitesnake before.

Also, who says Whitesnake didn't get his/hers/its inspiration from Green Day?
Just a thought...

[Warning: I'm listening to Kerplunk right now, so I'm wholly biased Razz]

I listened to it again the other day...not memorable, definitely, but I kinda...like it. (*gasp*)

Though when they went on Saturday Night Live they killed like every note...sore throats all around? XD

Whitesnake are an '80's rock band.

They are similar, but i like them both so im not really bothered
