I get this message when I click on the words "Junior Moderators" in light green in the Legend, under the list of registered users online. This is just in the Community forums, as far as I can tell. Thanks!

I've been trying to give a gift to a user, but it says that there is no one by the name of that user when there obviously is.

I understand that this may be because of the users special character of an exclamation mark at the end of their username.

Has this type of issue been corrected in the past? The user I am referring to is Light_Devil!

The exclamation mark is not an ending punctuation, it is part of the username, along with the underscore.
Why are we humans cannibals? We live a parasitic lifestyle, slaughtering each other for our own benefit. We may primarily live a commensalistic relationship, but that is still a form of living only for ourselves. Rarely do we live in mutualism where can help each other grow and come closer together.

When I tried connecting to the site I got a message saying my account was suspended. I was able to get back on a few seconds later, but it scared me and I thought I should let someone know about it.

So I tried to post a reply earlier and I kept getting an "account suspension" page.

Not sure if this is a bug or one of you mods is trying to tell me something and just being sneaky about it. If you are gonna ban me for some reason, could you at least give me a heads up?

Why the heck would we do that? I mean, come on, if we're going to ban you, then we're not going to give you a moment's notice and no way at all to rebut it. We're also going to destroy your computer with a virus so that you can't even try to get around the ban, and spam you.

Of course I'm joking; you don't need to be so defensive. You can also read the post before yours and find out that you weren't the only one with the issue.

The server, for whatever reason, had a spaz and needed to be reset without warning. I'm looking into the issue now and trying to figure out why it had a spaz.

Makes sense. Not trying to jump to conclusions, but I've seen mods on other forums go on random banning sprees before. Kinda funny sometimes.

Ugh, I hate that on other sites. On YWS, we probably ban about one person a month on average, and it's usually because they're trolling (posting links to extremely offensive/pornographic content for instance).

In any case, before anyone brings it up, I literally have no clue why the Featured Works listing suddenly looks like this:
Young Writers Society • Home_1267384460598.jpeg
Young Writers Society • Home_1267384460598.jpeg (8.53 KiB) Viewed 101 times

Since it appeared suddenly, I'm hoping it'll just go away suddenly too.

When I try to post in the Read/Write forums, it doesn't let me. I type out a post and hit "Submit", but it doesn't go through. If I'm doing it as a Quick Reply, it says, "No Post Mode Specified" and if I do it as a regular reply, it just refreshes the reply page.

Here's the reminder you asked for Nate!

No message is being sent out when people donate to you. I tested this out myself and I didn't get a message.
Follow what I'm writing

You know you're a writer when you're not alarmed at hearing voices in your head, you can't read a book without analyzing it for plot & characters and you consider something you nearly killed yourself to write the most rewarding.

Guilty as charged.

I'm not sure if this counts as a bug, but I figured I'd post it here anyways. For the longest time, my Outbox folder has never held more than two or three messages. I've never deleted any of them, but they're just not there. There is one message that always stays there regardless of the date it was sent, but every other one changes in order of the most recent. Any ideas?

Most likely not a bug, Mr. Knightley. Your outbox only holds private messages that the receiver has not read yet. Once the message is read, it gets saved in your sentbox. The one message that stays there has probably just never been read.

Rosey ->> Thanks! I'll have it fixed soon.

Merlin ->> Is that still happening to you? It's a bug of phpBB3 (the forum software on which YWS runs), but with no real solution.

Nate - for some reason, under the Blogs tab 'Blogs' and 'My blog' appear twice. Not sure if it's just me, but thought I'd mention it. I refreshed the page and checked again; it's still there.

Lol, it's been there the entire time. Just a small bug, and one that doesn't really affect anything. I've checked into it a couple times to see what's going on, but couldn't figure out why it's doing that.

So, I have two problems.
Let's start by saying I have a Firefox (v.5) browser on a Macbook Pro.

Persistently, one - my points are different on my profile then by my post (eg):

vs.

Two - For the past little while chat will not let me sign on. I can open chat and the login screen appears, but when I log in I just get a blue screen and the page stops loading. (I'm not sure if you can do anything about that since it's on another server, if not it's alright.)

Re: Report A Site Bug

Postby Nate on Tue Mar 23, 2010 10:09 pm

That's a really weird points bug; I literally have no clue what could be causing it since both come from the same field in the database. For now, lets just go with your custom title and call it "mildly contradictory". However, I will look into it some more later on.

The chat problem sounds to me like you may need to update your flash player. To check, go here:
http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/

If the flash animation works (you'll see a fleeting "Flash installed" message followed by an advertisement for Tweetdeck), then you have the latest version of Flash.
