Basically, you type in three authors that you like, and it will recommend an author to you.

I typed in Avi, C.S. Lewis, and Anne Ursu, and I got Caroline Cooney. I just looked her up, and it seems they chose it because of the Time Travel Quartet, which is about Ancient Greece and is apparently a high fantasy series. I have to read them now...

I put it Steinbeck, Fitzgerald, and Salinger. It gave me William Faulkner. I've never read Faulkner. Maybe I should, eh?

I put in Rowling, Robert Jordan and Tolkien and Got Terry Goodkind.

It looks like it based it a lot on Jordon since Goodkind's book series is freakin ginormous. Maybe I'll look into it.

I put in Stephenie Meyer, J.K. Rowling, and Holly Black, and it gave me Amelia Atwater-Rhodes, who I also adore. It was pretty cool.

So then I searched Stephenie Meyer, Orson Scott Card, and Steven Gould, and it gave me Jack Gantos, who I have never even heard up.

*skips of to look him up*

Adam >> Goodkind's first novel is quite good. Lengthy, a little absurd, but I enjoyed it.

I put in David Gemmell, Bernard Cornwell and Conn Iggulden, and I got Joe Abercrombie. Which amuses me, because I remembered Jiggy recommended him to me a while ago. I should really go buy one of his books.

It annoyed me for a while though, because I kept putting in different combinations of authors and I got recommended authors I already had read lots of their work. Ah well.

Adam, Terry Goodkind is an absolute must read. Brilliant fantasist.

And ha! I told you Jack - I damn well told you.

EDIT: That was amusing. I put in Janny Wurts, Raymond.E.Feist, and Robert Jordan and for every author they came up with, I had already read XD. Bar one, who I didn't know. Larry Bond, anyone?

Typed in Irvine Welsh, Mario Vargas Llosa and Elmore Leonard. Got: Halldór Laxness...?

Edit: googled him and it turns out he's an Icelandic novelist who won the Nobel Prize. So I did the thing again to see if anything changed, and it recommended me Malcom Lowry. Don't know who that is either.

I typed in:
Piers Anthony
Ray Bradbury
H. P. Lovecraft.

My result? Lewis Carroll. WTF?

*tries again*

From these:
Anne McCaffrey
Robert Heinlein
Tamora Pierce

I got:
Mercedes Lackey. Ew.

This thing is lame. Razz
Give me better authors...

EDIT:
I stuck to one genre and put in my faves:
Piers Anthony
Robert Heinlein
Larry Niven

And I got Joe Haldeman, of whom I've never heard.

Every time I tried to put in Anne McCaffrey, no matter what the other choices were, the first two options that popped up were Mercedes Lackey and Marion Zimmer Bradley.

I typed in Charlotte Bronte, Edgar Allan Poe and Adeline Yen Mah and got Loung Ung. Never heard of her before, seems good.
