PLEASE NOTE: At this time, the Expert List is no longer listing experts. This is an awesome list, but until there is some evidence of it being used, expanding it won't do much good. Thank you to all who have volunteered their knowledge, and if you have successfully utilized the Expert List recently, please leave a note below.

What is an Expert List?

An Expert List is a list of topics on which a YWS member is an expert. If you have a question, contact the appropriate member and I'm sure they'll be happy to help!

Are you an expert on something? Be listed as one!

Maybe you know the dynamics (pun totally, shamelessly intended) of an orchestra inside and out? Maybe you know the schematics of a swingset like the back of your hand? If you'd like to help out your fellow YWS-ers and be listed as an expert, PM me with your name and what you're exceptionally knowledgeable about, and I'll add you to the list! Questions? Ask them in the space below or PM me and I'll be happy to answer them!

Wow. Have you seen the Expert List recently? I mean, just look at it. There are ninety-six topics up there (!), not including the multiple topics that are listed together (such as sailing, ships, and Naval History). That's a lot. Who knew YWS knew so much? Wink

Now that we have an awesome list of knowledge awesomeness, let's put it to use. So here's how it works:

1. Start with a question!
2. Ask the person who has volunteered their knowledge of the subject. If they didn't want to be asked about their subject area, they wouldn't have volunteered Wink

Has anyone successfully used the Expert List recently? Please share your success stories below Very Happy

Well, I'm trying to have some research done on what it's like to work in the radio business, but the topic isn't up there. Does anybody know? I posted a separate topic but.. =)

Oh, and I once asked Cal about pirates, so I guess I successfully used it. Thanks to Cal, by the way!

I needed some information about Colic, so I asked Dreami and she was very helpful.

Why is this list separate from the one Meshugenah has posted in General Fiction Discussion?

http://www.youngwriterssociety.com/topic23586.html

Character Development: Snoink, Meep
Character Interaction: Caligula's Launderette, Meep
Dialogue: Snoink, Samuel Garrison
Grammar: Via, Meshugenah
Prologue: Griffinkeeper
Sentence Structure: Samuel Garrison, Meshugenah
Setting: Samuel Garrison
Over-description: Samuel Garrison
Research: Samuel Garrison (Historical Fiction)
Fantasy Fiction: Jiggity (all aspects)

*

Which of the two is official? I'm confused.

The other expert list looks like it's for elements of fiction rather than here, which is for the specific subjects on things unrelated to fiction, but are good for background knowledge. If that made sense...

HC's got it right! And if you look, there's one in poetry, too! Those are specific to the craft, not the quality of information per se, and since both are important, we have help for both!

haha; you're right. I don't know anything about radio! ^_^
In this case, you should ask in the general research thread.
