I'd like to suggest setting up a kind of weekly scheduled time where everyone can get together in the chat room and hang out all at once... instead of just a couple of people here and there.

It would make it easier for newer people like myself to get to know everyone, and I'm sure it would be fun and interesting.

What say?

The problem is different time-zones, not everyone would be able to attend the chat room at a predetermined time...

Though I'm sure you could organise all the Americans on the board to come on, although me and any other Brits, Aussies and New Zealanders or whatever might not be able too.

Here's an idea, would it be useful if a list of people in certain timezones was put up? So then at least you could work out who could be on at a certain time. Just an idea.

Can you make something in people's profiles where they can put if they are male or female? It gets really confusing and I don't want to call a guy a girl or vice versa...

Done! To declare your gender, you can change it in the profile.

Now that sounds really weird...

I know you have said we will have contests eventually Nate, but why not now? I was looking at the Writing Activities forum and realized that most of them are not popular because a) they take a while and b) they require time and thought almost like writing something. As I just suggested on Tessitore's Picture--Story thread, quite a few of these might work better in a Contest forum. It should probably be a points forum, so you get points just for entering or posting a contest, and people might be more motivated to try these things if they get a reward.

Also I myself have some contest ideas up my sleeve.

You tell them Sam! We're getting overrun with poets here! (pretends he's never written a poem and posted it here and whistles quietly)

No, but, really, everyone's too lazy and has too little time to read the stories.
Perhaps....errr...I'm really stuck for ideas on how the advertising could be done. I'll think on it.

Well, when you advertise the site, you could mention the stories posted.. *shrugs*

I don't have the time to thoroughly read stories, and I feel like they don't just deserve a quick glance-through.

What problems are you having? Once you click on it, it should just open up.

UNLESS you have a pop-up blocker. Like Norton. That's what I have.. I have to disable it everytime I want to go into the chat or (well, this isn't a problem anymore) give a person prestige.

1. Be sure that all the grammar is up to standard. Do whatever you have to do to post a grammatically sound poem. (common courtesy!)

I'm assuming by this you mean don't post anything that's blatantly unproofread. However, should we also be encouraging people to play with and develop their style? An uncaptalized or non-traditional poem (such as in the manner of e.e. cummings). Perhaps I'm nit- picking
but I really dislike the boundaries conventional grammar sets up.

And yay for rule three and a half!!

That rule does not apply if you are deliberately disregarding conventional grammar. It's mainly there for the AOL linguists.

Oh, and thank Galatea for rule 3.5! She came up with most of the rules. I just added on rules 8, 9 and 10.
