We always read stories about people's conflicts and what they do in their life, but a story about a person who writes the conflicts is very rare. We, as writers, go through a lot of work just to get our words on paper - writer's block, vigorous outlining, listening to people in our heads and hoping we're not crazy, etc.

I really want to see a story that's all about the person behind a story.

Rules:

1. Your short story must have a main character that creates stories; it can be a writer of books or screenplays. Also, there may be multiple writers in the story if you choose

2. The plot can be any genre: it doesn't have to be realistic fiction, something can happen to the writer that would make it another genre, such as (a cliched example) the writer gets bitten by a vampire
* It cannot be fan-fiction, non-fiction, scripts, lyrics, or poetry though*

3. It can be in either 1st person POV or 3rd person limited/omniscient POV

4. The writer can be anywhere in their writing career (from a beginner to a published author) also, they can be any age

5. It cannot be a horror story (I get scared too easily Shocked ) Nor can it be excessively gruesome

6. The maximum is 2,500 words, there is no minimum (there may be an exception if you go over 2,500, just PM me the word amount)

7. No limits on rating (but no sex scenes please)

8. You may only post one entry

9. You can enter an older piece

10. You may use swear words if you want, but in moderation

Prizes:

1st place: Five thourough critiques plus 300 points
2nd place: Three thourough critiques plus 200 points
3rd place: One thourough critique plus 100 points
Honorable mention: A pat on the back plus fifty points

~All entries will recieve a critique and for the four winners their entries will be reviewed along with the won amount of critiques~

Deadline has been extended to July 31st

Good luck!

I really want to enter this, so if I don't give you something in two weeks, can you give me a nudge? Holidays are coming up, so I know I'll have time to actually write something.

Argh! My inspiration has failed me! I've been writing, just not anything that follows the criteria of this contest. So right now I'm not sure I'll be able to enter, as I'm leaving on holiday on saturday, and I'll be gone for a month. After saturday I have no internet access until after the 20th! Sorry if I don't end up entering a piece for this contest, I really tried (and failed, hee hee)

This sounds totally awesome. I'm definately going to try and write something. But I wanted to ask, how exactly do you want each submission submitted?
