Capture the Image

What it is.

A Photography Contest. All I want you to do is get off your computer and take a few minutes to try your hand at shooting a photograph. That's it. Nothing else.

Rules.

1. Entires must be submitted no later than July 14th, 2008 (Extensions may be given).
2. Links are accepted (photobucket, flickr, etc.), but just make sure it doesn't take me to, for example, a restaurant website. If you want to submit it as an attachment or [img][/img], that's fine as well. You can PM it to me, post it in this thread, or create a thread for it in the Art/Photography Forum.
3. No more than two images per person.
4. Even if you submit two pictures that are outstanding, I will only pick the one I think is best to judge you by. This means no one can win twice.
5. The image cannot be something you already have posted on YWS. It has to be a new piece that was shot between the dates of June 5th and July 14th. And it must be your original work, not something your friend or family member shot for you.

Judging.

I will judge you on the following things:

1. Image Quality. Lighting, clarity, etc.
2. Effort. If it looks like it was a hard shot to take, you get more points. For example, a flower isn't a hard shot to take. A person jumping takes more patience and careful timing. You would get less points for the flower, and more for the person jumping.
3. Creativity/Originality. This is pretty self-explanatory.
4. Camera Angle. I won't worry about this too much, but different angles make great pictures.

Categories.

There are the following categories to choose from. There will be a first, second, and third place winner for each category.

Category 1-
Nature (Flowers, trees, animals, etc.)

Category 2-
Portrait (People)

Category 3-
Landscape (A mountain range, a meadow, a city scene, etc.)

Category 4-
Culture (People dancing, different foods, etc,)
Underwater (Fish, people swimming, etc.)
Architecture (Buildings)

Category 5-
Computer Edited (If you take the picture into Photoshop or adobe Lightroom or other similar programs, it will be counted as Computer Edited. But it must be a photograph, not a piece of art or a graphic.
Other (Feel free to make suggestions. I'll seriously consider adding more)

Prizes.

There will be a first, second, and third place winner from each category. That means five first place winners, five second place winner, and five third place winners (If we get enough entries).

First Place Winners: Three Critiques

Second Place Winners: Two Critiques

Third Place Winners: One Critique

Fourth Place and Below: A kind PM including a hardy handshake and a pat on the back.

PM me if you have any questions about the contest, or if you want any tips.

Good Luck, Everyone!
