Apparently, this guy had sent a similar response to a number of different agents who rejected his work.
The other funny/unfortunate thing is that this has been making its way around numerous blogs of writers, publishers, and agents of the genre. And because it's such a tightly-knit community, a lot of pretty important authors, agents, and publishers have probably read this or have at least seen it. (I found it off of John Scalzi's blog, which is frequented by Tor publishers Patrick and Teresa Nielsen Hayden, authors like Scott Westerfield and Charles Stross, and numerous other prolific people in the sci-fi/fantasy genre.) Whoops on his part. |
