I know it's been out it DVD for a while now, so why hasn't anyone made a topic about it before?

I think this one one of my top three favourite movies. The story I find really interesting (I want to read the original version, too) and the animation was really well-done. It's visceral and graphic in a way that really pulls you into the story (and makes you feel nauseous when someone gets impaled on a spike, lol).

I was especially intrigued with Grendel's mother, who was played by Angelina Jolie. I don't know if she appeared in the original Beowulf, but I thought they did a fantastic job with her in the movie. She was a good mix of monster and woman; for example, her gold skin-type-thing, her tail, her feet.
It's odd, but I remember not being as scared of her as I was of Grendel. Probably because she's beautiful, eh? Even though she slaughtered a whole mead hall full of people and hung them from the rafters, I was never worried that she'd come and get me or anything silly like that.

So, discussion, anyone?
