"FRICTION FORCE"
FADE IN:
INT. LIVING ROOM - MORNING
James and Luke are sitting on the couch in boxers and t-shirts eating cereal, watching Oprah.
LUKE
Didn't she used to be fat?
JAMES
Huge.
Lena comes down the stairs in a panic, holding two dressed.
LENA
(breathless)
Which of these would you guys like better?
Lena holds them up for both of them to see. One is dark red while the other is a light blue. James puts his spoon to his lips and looks at them.
JAMES
Hm. I don't think either of them are our size?
LUKE
You'd look pretty cute in the blue one.
JAMES
Really? It probably would compliment my eyes….
Lena groans and turns around to leave.
LENA
You guys are assholes.
As Lena walks back to the stairs Luke scowls at James, who sighs and sets his bowl on the table.
JAMES
Lena, wait! We're sorry…. Is this for tonight?
Lena turns back around and takes a deep, hesitant breath.
LENA
Yeah, but you know what? Don't worry about it. You score crazy chicks anyway.
James blinks, unsure how to respond. Luke shrugs and eats more cereal.
LUKE
She's got a point.
Lena smirks as James sinks back into the couch and picks his bowl back up. He glances over to Luke.
JAMES
Crazy, maybe, but at least their specialty isn't bluejobs.
Luke scoffs.
LUKE
Mm, that girl was so scary. She tried to talk to me about my favorite book of the Bible while I was in the bathroom. What the fuck?
James laughs.
JAMES
You said James, right?
Luke rolls his eyes.
LUKE
She actually said that in our relationship God came before I did.
Lena laughs from the stairs.
LENA (O.S.)
(calling)
That's probably why Mary thought she was a virgin.
Luke looks up, stunned, and turns to James.
LUKE
(incredulous, shaking his head)
What--? What did I do to deserve that?
James shrugs and eats another spoonful of cereal.
CUT TO:
INT. ANN'S OFFICE - MORNING
Ann is on her cell phone; the door is closed, and she looks pissed.
ANN
(into phone)
Jeremy, look, they need more than a fucking high school to support the cost of--
(beat)
No, that's great for them! But I don't give a shit right now--are they moving out? Are they taking the cat with them?
(beat)
Then I don't want to talk about them, okay? You need to go over there and tell them we need more clients or else they're all going back home.
(beat)
(laughing caustically)
This isn't a negotiation, Jeremy! My father doesn't like you as it is, and this isn't helping--
(beat)
No, baby, that isn't what I'm saying. I just--you need to go over there--when's the last time you were there?
(beat)
Ahuh. And you haven't been back since then?
(beat)
Well, Jeremy, that isn't enough. Just being in contact doesn't mean shit. They're like kids--they ARE kids. Go over there, make them do their job.
(beat)
(satisfied)
Yeah, great fucking idea. Send my condolences to Alex and Moonbeam.
Ann closes her cell phone as an ASSISTANT walks in.
ASSISTANT
Ms. Krauss? Harvey Lions is here to see you?
Ann pushes herself away from her desk forcefully and stands. She massages her temples slowly, making it clear to the Assistant that it better be important.
ASSISTANT (CONT'D)
(nervously)
He, um, he says it's urgent.
CUT TO:
INT. LENA'S BEDROOM - MORNING
Lena has set two dresses on her bed--the blue one from earlier, and a black and yellow one--and is now standing in front of the mirror, staring at her breasts intensely. She narrows her eyes and then slowly brings her hands underneath them, cupping them. She widens and then narrows her eyes before suddenly throwing her arms out at the mirror, accidentally hitting it and startling herself.
SUNSHINE
What are you doing?
Lena jumps and quickly turns around, brushing hair out of her eyes.
LENA
Um, nothing, I was--just….
Sunshine looks at her curiously.
LENA (CONT'D)
(sighing, suddenly relieved)
Oh my God, Sunshine! You're into all that spiritual crap, aren't you?
Sunshine folds her arms over her chest and gives Lena a stern look.
SUNSHINE
Lena, it isn't crap…per se. Although in a way it is like recycling your own thoughts and mind and body to contribute--
LENA
Yeah, great! So if I were to just sit here and think about good things, then good energy things would come to me?
SUNSHINE
Well, um…kind of. We believe in a more holistic approach that sort of--
LENA
So can you show me how?
Sunshine unfolds her arms and looks at Lena confusedly.
SUNSHINE
Are you saying you now want positive energy and feminine balance?
Lena recoils and shakes her head.
LENA
No! I want hands to come out of my breasts if he tries to grab them.
Alex suddenly swaggers into the room.
ALEX
Mmm, two women talking about their breasts…don't mind me, I'm just gonna observe.
Sunshine and Lena glance over at him with disdain.
SUNSHINE
She wants her boobs to become hands so in case--
LENA
(quickly)
--so I can mangle you.
Alex blinks, and then looks to Sunshine.
ALEX
She's kind of kinky?
Lena groans and suddenly sidesteps Sunshine to her bed. She picks up the two dresses.
LENA
Which do you think I should wear?
Alex and Sunshine both consider the dresses.
SUNSHINE
Well…I have this really cute--
LENA
No thanks, Sunshine. I'm not wearing a dress made of burlap or hemp.
Sunshine gapes as Alex steps forward.
ALEX
I think you need a green dress. Green is your color.
Lena laughs nervously and glances to Sunshine before shrugging.
LENA
I…guess.
Alex nods quickly and then motions Sunshine out.
ALEX
Can we have a moment?
Sunshine and Lena both look at Alex suspiciously, but Sunshine acquiesces and walks out, closing the door behind her.
ALEX (CONT'D)
Lena, sit down.
Lena glances to the mirror, then to Alex and the bed. Finally, she sits down and sighs.
LENA
What?
Alex picks up the black and yellow dress.
ALEX
You've never been on a date, have you?
Lena gapes.
LENA
Of course I have! I've been on plenty dates.
Alex waits on her to recant, but when she doesn't he simply nods and holds the black dress out, examining it.
ALEX
Mhm. And, uh…do the guys you date usually like the "I'm a bumblebee" suit?
Lena looks up at him at first stubbornly, but her expression quickly changes to one of hopelessness.
LENA
(sighing)
Okay…well. Maybe it is my first "real" date, but--the whole dating thing, dressing up and--it never came to me! Guys never flocked to me in high school, and I didn't hang out with them in college to know. Michael is the first guy to ever ask me out, and I lied to him about who I was! Ugh, I fail.
Alex sets the dress down and sits on the bed next to her.
ALEX
Are you sure it wasn't that when they came to you you pushed them away? Maybe by…calling them gay?
Lena looks over at him, deadpanning.
LENA
You've got to be kidding. If you think I'm at all inte--
Alex holds up his hands.
ALEX
I'm not saying you are! I'm just saying….
Lena looks off disgustedly.
LENA
(upset)
Maybe I should just--not go. It's going to be a disaster, and I don't have a dress, and I lied to him, and this is--
ALEX
That's not an option. You're going on this date, Lena Crochet.
Lena pauses, takes a deep breath and runs her hand through her hair before looking back over at Alex.
LENA
Since when do you care what I do?
Alex shrugs.
ALEX
Last week after you met him, you just…seemed different, and if you like him like I think you do, you shouldn't give up. You shouldn't give up on the things you like. Just look at me and Sunshine!
Lena looks up at him.
LENA
Yeah. Like a cross between a housecat and a calm monkey.
Alex grins.
ALEX
Exactly!
CUT TO:
INT. LIVING ROOM - DAY
James and Luke are playing with Tigerlily, who is chasing a jingly ball as they roll it back and forth across the carpet. When the doorbell RINGS, they both stand up.
LUKE
Did you order books…?
James shakes his head and glances to the door, where the outline of a figure is seen through the glass.
JAMES
No…. Was Jeremy--
Luke shakes his head.
LUKE
I don't think so.
James walks over to the door and opens it. CANDACE, the young, blond, beautiful Crestville Yearbook teacher is standing there, smiling.
CANDACE
Hi. Is Luke here?
James stares at her as Luke jumps over Tigerlily to see who it is. When he recognizes her, he smiles sheepishly and nods.
LUKE
Hey…. Is something wrong?
Candace looks around James at him.
CANDACE
Hi! Can I…come in?
Luke nods and grabs James and pulls him out of the doorway. Candace smiles and walks in.
JAMES
I'm, uh--I'm James. We talked on the, uhm. We talked on the phone a few weeks ago--
Candace nods and smiles politely at James.
CANDACE
Hi, James. Do you have a bathroom I can use? I just need to wash my hands, I got this--
LUKE
(nodding)
Oh! Uh, there's one down the hall and to the right.
Candace nods and disappears down the hall. James turns and faces Luke.
JAMES
That's spank bank material.
Luke rolls his eyes.
LUKE
Shut up. And stop looking at her like that.
James gapes.
JAMES
(incredulous)
Like what? Is this because I left you?
LUKE
No, and you can't have her.
JAMES
And why not?
LUKE
Because I was there first.
Candace reappears in the hallway and watches, amused, as they carry on.
JAMES
Psh, I talked to her first!
LUKE
Yeah…and then left! I met her first; ergo, I get the first shot.
JAMES
Oh, so this IS about my leaving you!
LUKE
No! That isn't what I--
JAMES
(smug)
Ahuh. I think you ne--
Candace steps back into view and they both turn around, embarrassed and shy.
CANDACE
Boys…?
They both barely make eye contact with her, swallowing. Candace grins and holds up her ring finger.
CANDACE (CONT'D)
I wouldn't waste too much energy fighting over what you can't have.
James and Luke both stare at her and then nod sadly.
JAMES
You're…married…?
Candace continues smiling.
CANDACE
Engaged. Now, can we talk about the yearbook?
Luke nods and walks over to the living room. Tigerlily looks up at Candace and hisses before running away in fear. James clears his throat and smiles.
JAMES
I think--she's probably scared of heels. She got stepped on when she was little, so…
Candace nods, uninterested, and sits down across from them in an armchair.
LUKE
So what's going on?
Candace sighs.
CANDACE
Well, it seems there's been a bit of a…problem. The girl who was going to be doing the artwork for the cover has…died.
James and Luke at first remain unfazed, staring at her, but once they realize what she's said they both put on shows of sadness.
JAMES
Oh, wow, that's--jeez, that sucks.
Luke nods.
LUKE
That's truly awful. What happened?
Candace rolls her eyes at their fake sympathy and leans forward.
CANDACE
It was cancer. She had started on several versions but refused to let any of us see them until she had finished one and was happy with it, and now her parents refuse to release them to the school.
James and Luke both nod dumbly. She waits on them to say something, but neither of them do.
CANDACE (CONT'D)
(annoyed)
So…you said you had an artist who can create the cover art if we needed one…?
JAMES
Oh! Yeah! Sunshine--she's great. She can do whatever you need.
Candace nods, waiting on one of them to get up to go get Sunshine, but neither move.
CANDACE
(awkwardly)
So…um, can I…meet Sunshine? I really need a sample of something she might want to do, if that won't be a problem.
LUKE
No problem! James will go get her right now.
Jaems glances to Luke, incredulous, but stands up anyway and smiles as he goes over to the stairs to get Sunshine.
CUT TO:
INT. ANN'S OFFICE - DAY
Ann is standing up with her back to Harvey, who is sitting in a chair, motioning wildly around and eating chips. Her arms are crossed over her chest as he goes on.
HARVEY
(loudly, smacking)
It's a scam, Ann! A fraud, I was--they swindled me out of my layout! They intentionally came, distracted me and then tricked my--
Ann finally turns on him, eyes wide with anger, and throws her hands up in the air.
ANN
Shut the fuck up, Harvey! I swear to God, you sound like a fucking turrets patient, and I can't concentrate with you munching out sentences.
Harvey straightens his posture and clears his throat. Ann shakes her head and rolls her eyes.
ANN (CONT'D)
If you weren't just saying the same shit over and over, I wouldn't have any idea what you're even saying, you know? Now, put the fucking chips down.
Harvey doesn't move.
ANN (CONT'D)
(yelling)
Put the chips down!
Harvey quickly puts them away.
HARVEY
(muttering)
I'm paying you, you know.
Ann folds her arms over her chest again and stares at him, hard.
ANN
Yeah, I know. And at $450 an hour I don't see how you can afford to come in here and bitch about how inattentive your staff is to tiny details like, say, proper identification!
Harvey shifts in his seat.
HARVEY
…are you saying you won't take this case?
Ann stares at him, incredulous.
ANN
You have no evidence that James and Luke--much less vital information like their last names--were associated with the woman who took your layout! There's nothing for me to take, Harvey!
HARVEY
Well…Michael said he saw them leave together.
Ann puts her hand to her forehead and takes a deep breath.
ANN
Michael? The same Michael who handed over the documents without verifying the identity of the woman who took them? Great fucking testimony, Harvey--of course he's going to say she left with them. That way he doesn't look like a complete idiot.
Harvey starts tapping his foot on the ground.
HARVEY
I'm fucking paying you to take this to court, Ann. I don't care how or why. At $450 an hour, I expect you to do whatever the bloody hell I damn want you to do!
Ann shakes her head.
ANN
No, Harvey, I'm not taking this case. I only take cases where there's actually a case to take.
Harvey stands up, highly offended, and sneers.
HARVEY
You over-priced bitch. You're lucky I don't sue you for malpractice.
Ann narrows her eyes at him.
ANN
Get the fuck out of my office, Harvey. Take your bag of chips and go sound like you're on the losing end of a battle with fucking cerebral palsy to an attorney that needs to make a car note, okay?
Harvey gapes in disbelief at her defiance and glares.
HARVEY
That jacket makes your tits look lumpy.
Ann points to the door without making eye contact.
ANN
Get the fuck out of my office, Harvey!
Harvey opens the door and storms out, slamming it shut. Ann uncrosses her arms and sighs loudly. She looks down at her breasts and then walks over to the window. After a while, she returns to her desk and rubs her forehead.
ANN (CONT'D)
(muttering)
Oh, fuck….
She picks up the phone and dials Jeremy's number.
ANN (CONT'D)
(into phone)
You have a pile of shit you need to deal with. Fast.
Ann presses the speaker phone button and puts the phone back in its cradle.
JEREMY (O.S.)
What happened?
Ann runs her hand through her hair.
ANN
Harvey Lions is suing James and Luke for scamming him out of documents.
There is a loud THUD heard through the phone.
JEREMY (O.S.)
What? What happened? Why?
ANN
Apparently your boys went and scammed him out of his layout for the Crestville Yearbook. Did you know about this?
JEREMY (O.S.)
No, I--
Another VOICE is heard through the phone.
JEREMY (O.S.)
Oh, okay, I'll--yeah, be right there. Hey, Ann?
Ann nods, waiting on him to continue.
JEREMY (CONT'D) (O.S.)
I have to go now, but I don't even know what needs to be done. Could you go see them for me, get everything straightened out?
Ann stands up.
ANN
Go to the house?
JEREMY (O.S.)
(pleading)
Finally meet the people you're paying?
Ann takes a moment to consider the offer before shrugging begrudgingly.
ANN
Yeah, sure, I'll go. Are you about to take your exam?
Jeremy clears his throat.
JEREMY (O.S.)
Yeah, I need to go in now.
Ann nods and closes her eyes.
ANN
Okay, bye. I love you.
JEREMY (O.S.)
I love you too. See you at home.
CUT TO:
INT. SUNSHINE'S BEDROOM - DAY
James knocks on the wall as he walks into the room. Sunshine is sitting on her bed, meditating. She simply nods in response to his knock. James walks in awkwardly and looks around.
JAMES
Hey, uh, Sunshine? We were wondering…well, the Yearbook lady is here, and she wants to see a sample of your work?
Sunshine opens her eyes and unfolds her legs.
SUNSHINE
What kind of work?
James furrows his brow.
JAMES
Um…artistic work?
Sunshine shakes her head.
SUNSHINE
I don't have any.
James blinks.
JAMES
Um, come again?
SUNSHINE
I don't have any.
James clears his throat.
JAMES
So…then draw something? She just wants to know what style it might be done in.
Sunshine sighs and stands up.
SUNSHINE
I didn't think they needed one? Wasn't one of the students drawing it for them?
Sunshine walks over to her desk and pulls out a sheet of paper and a pencil. James watches as she slowly starts making curves.
JAMES
Yeah…well…apparently she died? Of cancer or something.
Sunshine drops the pencil and stares down at the paper.
JAMES (CONT'D)
What?
Sunshine stands upright and looks over at him, shaking her head.
SUNSHINE
I can't!
James blinks, confused.
JAMES
Can't…what? Do you need a new pencil or--
SUNSHINE
I can't draw this! How can I capture the pain the school must be feeling without more time, James? How can I do that!
James shrugs and glances off.
JAMES
She just needs a sample….
Sunshine shakes her head, her eyes welling up with tears and her hands trembling.
SUNSHINE
Well. I can't, James. I can't.
James swallows and watches as she takes deep breaths to try and calm herself.
JAMES
Sunshine? Are…you okay?
Sunshine shakes her head, closing her eyes and biting her lips as she does so.
SUNSHINE
(sniffling)
Yes, fine, thanks. I just….
James watches as she tries to keep herself together. He clears his throat again and looks at her awkwardly.
JAMES
Well…see, the thing is…we kind of…need…the sample, or else she's not going to do business with us, so…
Sunshine continues shaking her head but eventually sobs out.
SUNSHINE
I can't, James! I can't! It's just art, all of it is just this--it's so--!
James continues to watch helplessly as Sunshine starts crying and gesturing to the sheet of paper.
SUNSHINE (CONT'D)
(choking up)
Art! It's just all of this meaningless negative energy put against paper--every thing--all of it is so depressing, and then, when I think about me, and I think about my art, and how, James? How am I supposed to, as an artist, respond to hearing about a little girl dying of cancer? How could I ever capture the pain and loss those people must be feeling? I can't even capture my pain!
James shakes his head and slowly, awkwardly puts his arm around her shoulders.
JAMES
Hey, it's okay. You're okay. If you can't do it, you can't do it, and I--
Sunshine suddenly curls into James's chest and sobs against him.
SUNSHINE
Why, James? I don't know what I'm doing here! I don't have any idea! It's just...so awful! And every time I try to find something to draw or write about, I just…find nothing. There's all this emptiness inside of me, and I don't know what it means or how to fix it or where it came from. And I thought, I thought we would be friends, but everybody hates me here, and I--
James hugs her back sadly.
JAMES
It's okay, Sunshine, and we are friends. You don't have to be here "for a reason." You're an artist; you do things because you're compelled to experience all that you can, as a duty to art.
Sunshine shakes her head and pulls away from.
SUNSHINE
(hysterically)
That isn't even the worst of it! I'm getting married! I'm going to be married to Alex, and…I don't…I need--I need something in my life that I can't just give up believing in.
James shakes his head, unsure of what to say.
JAMES
But, that's a good thing, Sunshine…it means Alex is important to you, and you're willing to compromise your beliefs to show him that. Sometimes we have to do things we don't believe in.
SUNSHINE
(sobbing)
No!
Sunshine starts crying again, and James walks back over to her and hugs her. She wraps her arms around his neck and puts her head against his shoulder, sniffling.
SUNSHINE (CONT'D)
It isn't even that. James…every night, we sleep in the same bed, and I don't even feel him. I don't feel him. He's right there against me, and…and, it's just me. I don't love Alex. I never loved Alex. I just didn't want to break his heart when he asked.
CUT TO:
INT. LIVING ROOM - EVENING
James comes down the stairs empty-handed and walks into the living room.
JAMES
Candace, Sunshine isn't feeling really well, so she's asked for a day or two before she tries to draw anything.
Candace stares over at him.
CANDACE
Doesn't she at least have a portfolio or something I can look at?
James glances to Luke helplessly.
JAMES
Um, well. She doesn't have it with her right now; she's sent it off to--
Candace stands up abruptly.
CANDACE
You're saying your artist has no way of proving she's an artist?
Luke stands up behind her and furrows his brow at James, mouthing "What's wrong?" to him. James opens his mouth to respond but realizes there's nothing he can say.
Lena and Alex come down the stairs giggling. Lena is wearing a beautiful green dress and is wearing make-up that makes her look amazing. James and Luke stare as she smiles at them.
LENA
What do you guys think?
Alex grins as Candace examines Lena closely.
CANDACE
Where did you get that dress? It's just gorgeous!
Lena smiles again.
LENA
Thank you, and…it was a gift. And your blouse is amazing, too! That blue goes great with your eyes.
Candace smiles and gives Lena a slight nod.
CANDACE
Well thank you very much. I just got it the other day.
Candace turns to James and Luke, who are whispering back and forth.
CANDACE (CONT'D)
You know, I can come back next week, if that'll make it easier for Sunshine.
James glances up surprised and nods.
JAMES
That would be great!
Candace nods and picks her purse up.
CANDACE
Well, I should be going then.
Lena looks up at the clock.
LENA
Me too. We're meeting at seven.
James, Luke and Alex watch as Candace and Lena disappear through the front door. James and Luke simultaneously sigh and drop down onto the couch.
JAMES
Jesus Christ.
Alex looks down at them.
ALEX
What's going on?
Luke clears his throat and shakes his head.
LUKE
Oh, nothing. It was just that, um…Candace, she was wanting stuff we didn't have yet….
Alex nods, suspicious, and then shrugs.
ALEX
Right. Well, I'm going to leave you two lovebirds together and go find my little pecker upstairs.
James and Luke nod, too exhausted to point out the unfortunate diction as Alex runs up the stairs.
LUKE
(quietly)
So she hasn't told him?
James shakes his head.
LUKE (CONT'D)
Is she going to?
James shrugs as the door bursts open. James and Luke jump to their feet, tense, as Ann walks in. She looks around and then notices them.
JAMES
Ann?
Ann smiles politely and walks into the living room.
ANN
James. Luke? I don't think we've met. I'm Jeremy's girlfriend and fund this operation right now.
Luke slowly nods and shakes her hand.
JAMES
What's up?
Ann lets out a short, curt laugh and sits down.
ANN
Well, James, what's up is that you guys lied and stole a layout from Harvey Lions.
They both nod.
LUKE
That was awesome.
Ann blinks and continues smiling.
ANN
Awesome as it may be, it means we have a bit of a problem legally. Here in America, Luke, theft is a crime.
James shakes his head.
JAMES
But we didn't steal anything! Lena asked to see it, and the guy let her keep a copy.
Ann nods.
ANN
Yes, after she told him that she was the yearbook instructor from the high school.
James and Luke both watch as she brushes the hair from her face.
ANN (CONT'D)
Look, there's no way it will ever go to court. The whole thing reduces down to "He said, she said," where Lena would just say his assistant misheard her, and intent is a bitch to prove. But what I'm--
LUKE
It would probably also not contribute to a good first date.
James smirks and shakes his head. Ann furrows her brow.
ANN
…a first date?
James shrugs.
LUKE
Lena and Michael, the assistant. They're on their first date right now.
Ann nods.
ANN
And where are the other two?
JAMES
Upstairs.
Ann nods again.
ANN
Okay, well, I need you two to go back and apologize to Harvey.
James and Luke look at each other and then laugh.
JAMES
You're kidding, right?
LUKE
Yeah, there's no way we're going back to see him. He's an utter ass.
JAMES
Yeah, innit.
Luke hits James in the shoulder and rolls his eyes as Ann watches them.
LUKE
Bitch.
James rubs his shoulder in mock pain.
JAMES
I just didn't want you to feel left out! You know I'm here for you, brah!
Luke gapes.
LUKE
You mean you're not there for me?
James gapes back at him.
JAMES
I can't be everywhere!
Ann clears her throat.
ANN
You boys have a very strange relationship, and...I don't think you understand what I'm saying. Harvey Lions will start a media war against us if you don't do something, and frankly, we won't survive if he does.
James and Luke sigh.
JAMES
So…what? We go apologize for stealing his shit and give it back to him?
Ann blinks.
ANN
No! You need to go apologize for your actions the other day--do NOT make any admission of guilt whatsoever, okay? Look, as far as you're concerned, you two don't even know how Lena got the layout. Got it?
James and Luke nod.
JAMES
Isn't suborning perjury illegal?
Ann stands up and shakes her head.
ANN
Oh, please. Harvey isn't the cops, you two aren't under oath, and you haven't retained me as counsel.
James and Luke stand up and walk her to the door. She turns and glances back into the house.
ANN
Tell Sunshine congratulations on her engagement and all.
James glances to Luke.
JAMES
Oh, uh…yeah, we will. She'll really…appreciate it.
Ann blinks and then nods.
ANN
Ah. I see.
Ann pulls out her car keys and nods at them.
ANN (CONT'D)
Well, you two enjoy wherever you are…for each other, and make sure you kiss Harvey's ass when you see him. We can't deal with a shitstorm right now.
JAMES
We'll try.
LUKE
Tell Jeremy we said "Hi!"
Ann nods and then turns to go to her car.
ANN
Yeah, I will.
James closes the door.
LUKE
Okay, so…she IS hot. You were right.
James nods.
JAMES
I know! I told you.
LUKE
Great! So you can have her. I'll take Candace.
JAMES
Oh, fuck that, I--hey, wait! Is that movie coming out tomorrow?
Luke shrugs and looks down at his watch.
LUKE
Um…I think it is? If it's the one about cannibals, then yes.
James nods.
JAMES
Cool. Do you want to go?
Luke shrugs.
LUKE
Whatever. Is food involved that won't be in the form of human flesh?
JAMES
Yeah, sure.
Luke grins.
LUKE
Well, then I'm in.
FADOUT.
THE END. |
