Caspan-

Ramere coughed lightly. Whether it was intentional or just unpreventable, I couldn't tell. His eyes were closed, and he seemed to be asleep, though you could never be sure with him.

"Present company excluded," Cara added, laughing. Ramere smiled softly.

I pulled Kayla closer to me, wrapping my wings around us both to block out the cold that was beginning to seep into the land with the coming of night. The fire burned brightly a few feet away, the enemy mage still unconscious nearby. I hoped he'd stay that way through the night, until we had enough time to deal with him...properly.

I buried my face in Kayla's hair, pulling her down next to me as I stretched out by the fire, my wings still wrapped around us loosely. I smiled and kissed her nose lightly.

"Get some sleep. You need it," I murmured in her ear.

Arabella--

I sat next to Ramere, leaning tensely against the tree. He seemed to be asleep, but I could not be certain.

He had been too tired to react to my being a vampire earlier on, but eventually he would surely remember. He would most definatly say something...

...but what?...

I pushed these thoughts to the back of my mind when Ramere moved slightly. I looked over at him curiously. Chuckling to himself, he moved to wrap his arms around me.

"Hello," I murmured, sinking down into his arms. He smiled, hugging me close.

Ramere-

"Hello," I murmured back softly, lingering on the brink of sleep and wakefulness. I buried my face in her hair, keeping my eyes closed.

"How do you feel?"

"Tired," I replied simply, yawning. She smiled and kissed my cheek, though I detected a hint of hesitation and indecision behind her lips. I frowned, then remembered what had happened during the battle...

Flashes of memories swam before my closed eyelids. Arabella jumping onto the mages back...sinking her...fangs...into his neck...

"You should sleep," she said quietly, laying her head next to mine. I was conscious of her mouth resting conveniently close to my neck.

"You're a vampire," I stated, my voice steady and calm. It wasn't a question.

Arabella--

I remained silent for a moment, not knowing how to reply.

He hadn't asked me if I was, just stated the fact. It made me cringe.

AFter a few moments, I nodded slowly. Then I waited for his reaction.

Ramere-

I allowed a small smile to stretch across my face, wrapping my arms around her tighter.

"I'm not mad at you, Arabella. How could I be? My own mother is a vampire, myself half of one," I said quietly, the last part almost to myself. Again I felt the sharp fangs with my tongue, reminding me once again of my heritage that many others I knew would be disgusted to have. I didn't mind it at one bit.

I kissed the top of her head. "No, I'm not mad..."

Arabella--

I took a deep breath, leaning into his warmth.

"Then what are you?" I asked softly, breathing into his neck.

Ramere-

"Too tired to be anything else," I murmured quietly, teetering on the edge of unconsciousness.

She laughed, the soft sound ringing merrily in my ears, dancing through my head and willing me to sleep. My body slowly relaxed.

"Then sleep," she whispered, curling up against me.

"As you wish," I managed to breath before letting myself fall into a world of darkness.

Arabella--

I sighed, relieved to know he wasn't mad at me. Curling up into his arms, I found myself to be extremely exhausted.

I yawned, blinking a few times. The last time I blinked, my eyes didn't open again.

Caspan-

I curled up, my wings wrapped tightly around Kayla and I, my head resting next to hers. I smiled contentedly.

So this was what it was like to be in love.

Slowly, sleep overcame me.

I awoke hours later, blinking the sleep and sun out of my eyes. A quick glance around told me that only Richard and Storm were awake, even though it was hardly past daybreak.

I yawned and moved, being careful not to wake Kayla. I walked over to join them by the fire.

"How do you guys do it?" I asked, scratching my head sleepily.
