This contest is brought to you by the YWS Instructors (us people with the purple names) and judging will be a joint effort amongst us all.

Theme: Fire. It can be anything from a metaphorical flame to a bombing or a smoldering bonfire. Anything goes--as long as the main theme of the piece is fire.

Writing your Entry: You have two choices:

1) Interpret the prompt how you like and write whatever comes to mind (having to do with fire).

2) Use one of the attached pictures as inspiration. (If you choose this one, please let us know which picture you're using.)

Deadline: April 10th, 2008

Poetry: Entries must be no longer than 25 lines.

Fiction: Entries must be no longer than a thousand words. However, if you peak that, we're not going to kill you (despite any rumors of an Instructor-based terrorist front going around).

Prizes:

1st Place: 4 critiques (courtesy of the instructors) and 200 points
2nd Place: 3 critiques (courtesy of the instructors) and 100 points
3rd Place: 2 critiques (courtesy of the instructors) and 50 points

All non-placing entries will be critiqued as well.

I would enter, but I'm not writing another thing about fire. XP Couldn't you have had this like, a month ago? I could provide the time machine.

Question! I'm new to the whole contest thing. We write an entry, we post the entry and...
a) We're allowed to edit the entry up until the final submission date
b) Once it's posted, we don't touch it again until after judging

*has started writing* Very Happy

And the answer is...

*drumroll*

A.) Edit whenever you want.

Entries will be judged once the contest is over. Until then, everything is in the air, regardless of whether or not it's up in YWS airspace or not.

Sounds great!

Can we use existing stuff, or would you prefer completely new pieces? Or do you not mind?

We'd prefer you enter new stuff, (to get you writing!) but if you really like something old, you can enter it...
