Now that the Literary Journal is available at Lulu:

http://stores.lulu.com/yws

Some are wondering what happens next. The next step here is waiting for it to appear on Amazon. I'm waiting for that because while it's good to have it on Lulu right now, people know Amazon. It's the same idea as always going to the same store just because you know that store. In this case, everyone knows Amazon. Few know Lulu.

Once it becomes available on Amazon, that's when everything is really going to kick in. I'm going to send off anywhere from 25 to 50 copies to reviewers, editors, and important bloggers. Magazines like Writer's Digest will get one, as will newspapers like The Washington Post and bloggers like Glenn Reynolds.

Additionally, I plan on going to a few bookstores in my area and asking them to carry it.

On top of that, I'm making a promotional handout people can give to their teachers, librarians, and bookstores in their area. It'll be short (three to five pages), but snazzy. If just a few people were to use it, and be successful in using it, it could be helpful. Many Libraries also have a "Purchase Suggestion" card.

Just a little note: if you tell the libraries that YOU are published in there, then they'll probably be a bit more supportive of buying the book. Libraries generally like promote local talent.

I know some people- including the manager- who work at my local bookshop. I could tell them about it, as just an idea. A bit of publicity for the journal in Aus maybe?

I found out in my library, not sure if it's true in all, but if a student asks the library to get a certain book they are required to get it.

Are we allowed to ask our local book vendors if they will carry? Cause I know people in my bookstore too.

Same here--and that handout sounds like a fantastic idea!
