RESULTS:

I was very disappointed with the turnout for the competition, with so many people saying they would be in without any official resignation. You should be ashamed!!!

Okay, so now, for the results...

I had only two entries, so I would split the points of third place between them, including their already won prizes.

Second Place:

Ghaks, for his stimulating poem Nanking about Japan:

Nanking

The river fills with blood,
the blood of the immigrants’ wrath.
The city has turned into a slaughterhouse.
Men, women and children, massacred
in their thousands.
Who knows what terrible fates
they suffered, at the hands of the
immigrants?
The immigrants who came to
bring peace but
crush freedom.
Shame on all of us.

First place goes to Stella Thomas for her innocent portrayal of Irish patriotism:

This is the Day...

I want to enter! Just wondering, can I write about the differences between my two cuktures (English and Australian)? And can I write it as a fiction piece?

It sounds like an interesting challenge. I will see if I can think of something.

Great!

Remember, this could be ANYTHING, and it can stretch on for hundreds and hundreds of words. It could also be about anything---from a centimeter of cloth (like a grandfather's treasured Italian rag) to an entire county (you could do something about supersized America, maybe?) to the entire planet (are you from Mars?)

Just for clarification, when you say culture, do you mean--

1. The specific things which happen in said homeland (America for moi) that set it apart from everything else?

or

2. The everyday things which may overlap with other countries?

Because I'm thinking of writing a fragmented type piece that would just include descriptions of everyday and special things from various times of the year. With America being such a melting-pot of backgrounds, it's hard to pinpoint a specific "culture", so some of what I would write about might seem washed-out or not significant.

Just need that little bit 'o clarification.

Both of them would be perfect. Your idea seems SO interesting! I REALLY can't wait to read it.

Oh this looks like so much fun... I can't believe I hadn't seen this before. I wish I did more Polish things, haha, then my story wouldn't be so lame. Oh well. I have ideas.

Expect something incredebly random and rather pointless but fun from me!

Hi there, I was wondering, do you have to send 3 entries per person?

The minimum amount of entries is one, and the maximum amount is endless. Smile
