Now that the holiday season is finally over and we've all been dragged back to classes, it's time for the monthly contests to start back up again! Smile

Congratulations to our entrants from October!
Winner: gadi
Runner-up: alleycat13
________________

Now, it's time for the next contest! Quatrains!

Deadlines: All entries are due by 11:59pm EST on February 29th.

Rules:
All entries must be quatrains (and just because it's a quatrain does not mean you should just throw one together, spend some time with it!). For this particular month, each entry must be a SET of quatrains (can't make it TOO easy) and we will choose the best set (but they do not have to be tied together, they can be completely different topics). Please PM all entries directly to me in lieu of posting them here on the thread. Only one winner will be chosen and it will be by majority vote.

The Prize:
The Winner will receive four critiques from the poetry crew (one per crew member-Via, bubblewrapped, Trident, Cade) on the poetry piece (or four separate pieces) of your choice. The winner has three weeks to PM me links to the pieces he/she would like critiqued (just because it’s a monthly contest). The winner will also receive a spotlight in the poetry forums as the featured member of the month.

Quatrains:
A four-line poem usually rhymed “aabb” or “abab”

Ex:
Tyger tyger, burning bright,
In the forests of the night;
What immortal hand or eye,
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?
-“The Tyger” by William Blake

Good luck!

Does it matter what sort of rhyme scheme we have? What if I do ABBA? or AABA?

I will try awfully hard to submit something.

Nah. You can do whatever you want. If it's four lines I'll accept it Smile

By a set do you mean two quatrains or more? And you say they don't have to be linked but can they be if you wish it?

Heather>> Yes, two quatrains. They can be linked if you wish but definitely don't have to be!

So, here's the deal....It's the 11th and I have 1 entry. There is only 18 days left and this has been up for quite a long time.

So, why does this have to do with you? Welllll...I have to have at least 4 entries to run it again next month. As this is a monthly contest sponsored by the entire poetry crew, it's a wonderous opportunity to a) get the change to have your username as featured member in the poetry section, b) get your work read by all of us and c) have the poems of your choosing critiqued by the crew! Plus it's not even a hard poetry form and it's subject is completely open!

I will hold true to the one entry I have and they will win if no one else enters and will remain the featured member until I feel like taking it off. But, if I don't get 4 entries I can't host it anymore. So...if you want to see more contests I need entries! Very Happy

Too bad you can't enter, Via. You're an amazing poet, haha.

Cade should enter. *stabs Cade a little bit*
