I have a question.
I've applied to be a Greeter (since I was greeting all the new members I could get my hands on anyways and answering questions they had =P), and I was looking at instructor. Now, the commenting is self explanatory. But as for writing tips and such, what kind of quality do they have to be? Can you just give tips that you think would be helpful, or is there some kind of standard(qualifications) that is expected of instructors? |

If you send an application to become an instructor or a greeter will Meshugenah/Firestarter reply even if they are not accepting you?
And is it normal for it to take over a month for them to reply? |

They're both very busy people. Give them some time. Or, if you see them in the chat, you could ask them there. |

| I got m reply for being a greeter...either the day after or the day after that. So within two days. I got a message that I was accepted, also. But I don't know if they respond if you aren't. Hope that helps answer your question a little. |

| Hey there! You know when you apply to beceom an instructor (which I would like to do in the near future) do you have to offer an online class? How do they work? I am very active around the literary forums, and critique submissions a lot. I was just wondering, because if I became an instructor would I HAVE to do make an online class? |

Being an instructor is more or less an honorific title. You have to apply for it, but you'll only be given the status if you're someone who is consistently active in the literary forums.
However, what we encourage instructors to do is to offer writing tips, either by answering question in the writing tips forum or by posting articles in the knowledge base. |

Hey there guys.
No, you don't have to host an online class. If there is a certain area where you think you excel, for example, dialogue or perhaps character development - the topics can range anywhere - then hosting a class might be beneficial to the site as a whole for those members who attend.
And for those who asked, an Instructor is expected to go above the regular reviews. We look at grammar, spelling, sentence structure (like if a certain word fits in the context in which it's being used), character development, setting, plot, historical accuracy if the piece is HF; everything, and then suggestions in improving. For this, our reviews can get very long. XD Personally, I love dissecting stories with a fine tooth comb.
Basically, an Instructor is an Editor, and editors don't skimp out with detailed reviews. |

Thanks guys. I might wait a while before applying, because I know that although membership age isn't a huge factor, I might need to prove they I can stay consistently active first
I ususally focus on grammar and setence structure. I am quite good with telling writers how to improve, I've been there, gone through the ups and downs and have been a writer long before a member on YWS. I would do a fantasy class I suppose, one of my main traits. I have added two more links to Online Resources, but the knowledge base won't let me add a new article.
I'll have to think it out. |

| Here's a question. If you apply for a position, and don't get it (probably because you don't meet the qualifications). Can you re-apply later when you think you are more worthy? |

| Definitely. But give at least a couple months or so before re-applying. |

I have a question:
If I were to apply I don't know if I would become a Greeter, because I'm more of an Instructor on what I do on the site...
There was one week where I posted a bunch of long critiques, but now I don't have as much time. I'm still on the site, and I've usually had at least a few good, long 50-point critiques a week, but should I still apply??
I'm not going to apply right now, and this doesn't just refer to me, but to anyone if this is a question that they have.
I guess you could say that my question is: How often should I post before I apply to become an Instructor?
Thanks

| If you'd like to try, you could apply and then if you're turned down, re-apply in a few months when you feel that you have posted more. But an instructor's role is more than just critiquing. If you are generally helpful and pleasant around the site, that helps as well. |
