I think the subject of nuclear wars is a mainstay of teenage boy fiction, so I think this story about possible scenarios of nuclear war involving Israel would be beneficial to anyone writing about such a subject.

Israel Could Survive Nuclear War

Posting this in Research instead of 'In The News' as I think it's more beneficial as a research item, especially with regards to nuclear war.

This research is highly suspect as it essentially replays the six day war in terms. If the USA or anyone else jumps in the entire middle east could easily disappear and it would be full blown WWIII.

To say that it would survive would be highly suspect due to the fall out which will definitely blow into Isreal, the water and the crops in the surrounding area should Egypt get involved. Israel would then be facing issues with Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Afganistan, Pakistan and India with an off chance of Turkey and Jordan should it use nuclear weapons.

Those countries will be furious if they have to deal with fallout that will likely kill people and render entire crops and herds of cattle entirely worthless and be forced to slaughter them. A conventional war or some other method of response will likely follow should Israel stand it, but furthermore I'd like to point out that anyone using nuclear weapons would be in big trouble with the UN, as nuclear weapons cause widespread damage that lasts for a long time and goes against standard war policies.

If Israel does get involved in nuclear arms exchange, the long term results would devastate the middle east alone. If the big boys get involved that would be disaster on a scale only imaginable. Either way, Israel may be spared from turning to glass, but its people will definitely suffer when other armies come in to play on the greatly weakened Israelis.

Conventional war is the only safe option in which nations can assert diplomatic control and use fear as a limiter. When you push that button it opens up a new state of war that is just mutual destruction and any survivors will likely stroll in during the aftermath.

The US did not use nuclear weapons in the Vietnam war. That was a proxy war and neither side dared go that far because of the mutual destruction that would follow. During the cuban missile crisis it was approved and the submarine commander did not give the order to fire, a common man prevented WWIII.

If you want good research for a nuclear war story, do one on the people that are in power and yet weigh the consequences and their life on opening up that state of war. Nuclear weapons are insanity to use, a desperate and foolish act that will hopefully never be used on people again. History has a way of repeating itself, but that painful reminder exists and is the greatest shadow of the US in the modern era.
