I drove down the street, onto the campus, my radio blaring with Evanescence, Three Days Grace, and Breaking Benjamin. Thanks to Roxy, that was all I listened to now.
As I pulled into the parking lot in front of the building, I couldn't help but notice the small group settled out in the student lot, talking and laughing as if there was nothing wrong with skipping. I chuckled when I recognized that red haired girl. It was none other than Amber.
"Hey, Amber!" I called, getting out of my silver Cobalt. What could be wrong with that? After all, it was my "first" day back at school. |

Miles heard a muted giggle behind him. He ignored it until someone tapped him on the shoulder.
Annoyed, he spun around. "What is it?" he hissed.
"Mr. Keyston, would you care to tell the class the why you are disrupting their learning?"
Miles's cheeks got red. "No, sir," he choked out.
"Very good. Now, turn in your books to page 192."
Not a good way to start out. He grabbed a pen and scribbled a few notes.
After class, he ran into Mira. "Hi," he mumbled.
"Hi," she said back. "Um, about Saturday..."
"Forget about it." He pushed past her and went to his next class. American history. |

Maybe you should go back a page. Miles was on a date Saturday. No big deal.
While the teacher droned on, Miles began to doodle. He drew a small, furry creature and smiled. Let's see... A little more detail on the legs.
"Miles, are you listening?" Apparently, Mr. Horn had eyes in the back of his head. "I told you to get out your workbook."
He did, and quickly turned to the right page. "What was the first battle of the Revolution?" was the first question.
Time to buckle down and get to work. |

He went through the rest of the day without incident. Just as he was about to leave...
"Hey, wait up!" It was Senna, of course.
"Can't stop to talk," Miles lied.
She grabbed the front of his shirt. "Sure you can. Who's gonna miss you, your cat?"
"Err.. that's right. He gets terribly lonely."
"You're a liar, Miles."
He snorted and looked away. That's when he noticed Max staring at him. "Push off," he told Max. |

"Wow, someone is in a bad mood, I was just tryin to be nice." Siren backed off, and shook her head. "Go have fun with your cat." She turned and walked back down the hall shaking her head as she past Max who jumped in step beside her.
"SO...... whats with you and Miles?" He asked as they turned a corner,
"Nothing, I was trying to be nice and talk to him sense no one else was." She stopped and turned to him and smiled, "Whats with you and Amber?" She asked, his face turned red for a second then went back to normal. |

Dang it, Miles swore. Too afraid to talk? Come on, boy, buck up! He kicked at a pebble and watched as it rolled into the street.
"Rough day at the office?" a familiar voice asked.
"Michael, what are you doing here?"
His friend grinned. "Same as you: walking home from school." He looked at Miles's face and added, "You look like you've seen a ghost."
"No, it's worse than that." Miles told him about what happened.
Mich shook his head. "It happens, man. Don't worry about it."
But Miles was worried. |

"What do you mean?" Max asked, trying his best to look clueless.
Senna's smiled widened even more. "Don't play dumb, I know something's going on between you two. Are you two a couple now?"
Max opened his mouth to say something then closed it. He thought about it for a moment. We're they really a couple now? He hadn't thought about it until now. In the past he had asked lots of girls out, but it was never anything serious. Amber is the first girlfriend he ever had.
"Hellooo? I'm still waiting for an answer."
Max brought his attention back to the girl in front of him. "I'm afraid you'll have to ask Amber about that."
Senna raised an eyebrow. "What happened with you two last night?" she asked.
Max chuckled a little under his breath. "If I told you, I'm afraid she just might hit me for it."
(Now that we've established Max and Amber as a couple we should think of a way to drive a wedge between the two to make the story more interesting. I was thinking something with the cheerleaders.) |

I plopped on my bed as soon as I got home. Nothing interesting ever happened anymore...I checked in, got my schedule, and went through classes. Pre Cal would be interesting - I never did like math; Zoology might be fun; and of course, history and english were just...history and english. Another class I had to take.
At least I still had art and band. Spanish would be okay, I guess. Spanish was necessary to graduate with honors.
Nothing else. Nothing else ever happened...just me, me getting in trouble with my art, and me being clueless to everyone's business.
Speaking of clueless, who was that boy with Amber? Were they dating?
I groaned, rolling onto my side as my cracked ribs began to hurt again. Cursing my stupidity and clumbsiness - which always got me hurt - I fell asleep. |
