Congratulations to our entrants from last month!
Winner: alleycat13
Runner-up: Jasmine Hart
Honorable Mention: Reyu
I will post all entries from last month at the bottom of this thread.
________________

Now, it's time for the next contest! Tercets!

Deadlines: All entries are due by 11:59pm EST on October 31st.

Rules:
All entries must be tercets (and just because it's a tercet does not mean you should just throw one together, spend some time with it!). For this particular month, each entry must be a SET of tercets (can't make it TOO easy) and we will choose the best set (but they do not have to be tied together). Please PM all entries directly to me in lieu of posting them here on the thread. Only one winner will be chosen and it will be by majority vote.

The Prize:
The Winner will receive three critiques from the poetry crew (one per crew member) on the poetry piece (or three separate pieces) of your choice. The winner will also receive a spotlight in the poetry forums as the featured member of the month.

Tercets:
If you have a couplet and add a third line with the same end rhyme, you wind up with a tercet.

Ex:
Kitchen crickets make a din,
Sending taunts to chilly kin,
“You’re outside, but we got in.”
-Joan Bransfield Graham

Good luck!

Last Month's Entries:

alleycat13-
The earth is fresh, and life begins to run
to fields of green beneath a blazing sun.
____
Like red and gold, the leaves are swirling down,
and in the white and ice they slowly drown.

Jasmine Hart-
I'm sick of all your sordid sense
Chaining me fast to Pretense.
____

I will still idolize the stars,
Too far away to leave a scar.

Reyu-
To be and Ox and wonder...
Communism is China's sunder?
____
A white gown enamored with lace?
Not I; a nobleman's fall from grace.

vampiressjeanie
A clean slate
One more chance to make your first mistake
____
A fresh start
Another chance for things to fall apart

gadi
I stood among the olive trees
Branches waving in the breeze
____
And watched as they lowered the casket down
The King of Israel has lost his crown!

Kyte
Haven't see the light in a while.
I've gone and blown out my style.
____
I'm gonna reach for the highest star
Be it Capricorn, Pegasus or just Mars!

Evangelina
If life was a flower, just waiting to be picked
then the scent and the image, we surely would have nicked!
____
Despite the thorns and weeds galore,
once we had one smell, we’d need much more!

Oooh. I think I'm going to enter! Some questions for clarities sake: so it must be a set meaning more than one stanza, so to speak, but they don't have to be linked...? Basically meaning I have to write more than one poem (tercet) if they are not connected in some way?

Sorry, I just want to clear things up before I start thinking. Very Happy

So two poems will be enough for the set?

No, because if you do that then there is a chance of bias in the judging based on who wrote it.

Yes, go ahead and enter if you like! It's up to you. As I mentioned, no one who is voting (except me) will even know who wrote what so if you win two months in a row then you are just that good Wink

alleycat, please try to get back to me on which poems you would like critiqued so I can dish them out as soon as you can! Thanks.
