Ooh, I cannot wait for December...these are all so excellent. ^_^
And because I'm batty, two NaNoes:
TITLE: Breathing Lessons
GENRE: Historical, Fantasy, and a little bit of good old Alice in Wonderland fanfiction *gasp*.
SUMMARY: It's essentially a teenage romance gone very, very wrong. William is your average slacker who runs off to join the Confederate Army, and is within two weeks shot in the back of the head whilst eating. And Anezka, the girl he leaves behind, is supposed to be wed to the butcher's son- but as clichè would dictate, she is none too thrilled.
William expects to find himself in pain, but instead he is dead and wandering around in a bayou with no feet or arms or bodily whatsits, until he comes across the house of the Witchmother, who in return for a few errands run agrees to teach him how to become human. While he's wandering around in the world of the undead, Anezka falls head-first into a wishing well and is drawn into that same dimension. Fun ensues.
I'm essentially trying to create fantasy that I would actually enjoy, and so I'm both very excited and very nervous about the whole thing. However...the Mad Hatter's tea party rip-off scene is going to kick some pants, I am certain. [Mine, at the very least.] Anezka shows up, frantically asking for directions back to her home, but is instead told about how the world 'up there' has gone to Hell in a Handbasket and that she shouldn't bother. Lots of fun, slanderous Civil War satire that I am uber-excited about. XD
TITLE: D is for Diphtheria
GENRE: I'm not so certain it has one? A mix of contemporary YA and medical sci fi, as well as sheer madness.
SUMMARY: It's basically my attempt at making a story about calamity and ridiculousness without actually making a story about calamity and rediculousness- ergo, a tragedy that happens in the midst of a characters' life that affects them, but doesn't necessarily dictate every ounce of their lives. You know those stories where it's about something stupid, like trying to make a point about how hard times were at such and so point in time, and so in every chapter the character angsts about how he can't afford candy because "times are rough"? Yeah.
/end rant. So basically, it's a character-driven story about how a small town in Nebraska- by the route of the unearthing of a devastated pioneer town- becomes infected with smallpox, and how eventually my main character, Sukie, must rescue them all with nothing but a highway map and a plastic kids' sled. November is going to be excellent.
I'm most looking forward to...I don't know, the interactions between Carl and his Babcia, particularly the scene where attempts to come out to her but she ends up ranting about not having grandchildren. It's nothing to do with smallpox, but it's all this uneasy poli-cultural [yes, I just made that up] humor that I drool over. |

Title: Quietus (working title)
Genre: Horror/Thriller
Summary of your NaNo: A group of young boys, bored out of their minds, wander through a seedy part of town. They stumble upon an abandoned funhouse called "Quietus". Intrigued, they enter, hoping for a good time. What awaits them inside turns out to be a fight for survival.
"Ut Somnium Est Morior" -- "To Dream Is To Die"
I'm actually very excited for this. It's based off a recurring dream that I can never finish. It's been proven that, to be rid of recurring dreams, one must finish the dream. I hope to finish it by November 30th. |

Title: Steel Speech [and other mechanical languages]
Genre: Steampunk/Sci-fi/Fantasy/Complete mess
Summary of your NaNo: It's set in a huge desert-type place, it involves lots of pretty machines, people who can talk to them, lots of confusion, some crazy god-like figure, and the sky.
And, apparently, people in top-hats too. |

I've honestly no bloody clue...although, the sort of flinging yourself out there is very much in NaNo spirit. We'll see what happens. XD
And yay! Freshmeat- er...priceless gifts from above! ^_~ I'm so glad you guys are trying it; most people just think that it's bonkers and not the sheer crazy fun that it is. |

Tee Hee, Samichan, these newbies are not Freshmen! We cannot beat them up. Instead we can only love and cuddle them and squeeze all the enthusiasm out of them that we can!

I told my therapist about NaNoWriMo, and I do think she thinks I'm slightly more crazy than she thought I was. I complain about being stressed and being a procrastinator, only to inform her I'm going to try and write 75k in one month. ^^; She looked impressed and asked how I found the time to do that. Haha. Well, I said, you realize you have a lot more time than you thought you did. (Why I'm talking to my therapist about NaNoWriMo, that I couldn't answer! hahaha) |

Title: Becoming Judith or The Clique Five (both working titles)
Genre: Teen/YA/Realistic Fiction/Contemporary Fiction/Ari doesn't know
Summary of your NaNo: Four sets of parents gave their children biblical names. But Matthew and Joseph think their names are too common, and Mary, Ruth, and Judith think theirs are too demure. The five choose new, more... er... interesting names for themselves, and together, through Barrabbas, Judas, Delilah, Jezebel and Potiphar's Wife, the Clique Five is born. These five crazy kiddos are in for a year of side-stepping arbitrary rules, ugly uniforms, embarrassing music classes, speech tournament mishaps, and of course heartbreak, romance, tears, and growing up.
Ah, we love cliches, don't we? |

Title: Sunsweep (VERY temporary)
Genre: drama? Is there a dramatic fiction?
Summary: MC (unnamed as yet) is attending a college, getting her doctorate in vocal music, when she is mauled and raped and almost throttled to death by a bunch of hooligans. She has to go home to her parents to recover, and her voice - her future, practially - is ruined, because of the strangulation.
Then *dramatic theme music* in walks Mr. Charming Millionaire (who just so happens to be in the music business), who falls in love with my dear MC. MC doesn't particularly like him, but she doesn't dislike him either, but then Mr. Millionaire finds out how they can save her voice and she can go back to school and finish her degree and start singing again. So she starts to fall for him.
Of course, there's also going to be awesome, weird little sub-characters...the MC's dad is a fanatic about gardening, for instance...etc. So whaddaya think? Cheesy? |

Ha. This sounds like fun. Looks like a good opertunity to quickly lay down a plot I've been tossing around in my head for awhile now.
Ty-tul: Breaking 50
Jon-ruh: YA/Fantasy/Sports/Idon'tevenknow
Plaht: Ridiculous, to say the least. Teenage protagonist Vincent Singler's mundane life is completely jarred when he hits a girl – who seems to appear completely out of nowhere – with his white Subaru Outback. Fortunately, she survives. The conflict that follows is fueled by severe amnesia, Vincent's high school track team, one of those love triangle things, volatile parents, and a portal triggered by a certain athletic event hinted at in the title. |

Title: *shrugs* donno yet, I usually wait until I'm done
Genere: Historical fiction/romance/fantasy
Summery: Two different love stories from two different times, present and the renasance, the pair from the present are the reencarnations of the pair from the renasance. They're in pretty much cliche situations poor, depressed, girls and rich, cocky guys falling for each other. Whilst the "fates" wreak mayhem with their lives because they're jelous and bored. |
