|
|
Other than Wikipedia, does anyone know where I can find a list of traditionally female stereotypes (eg: nurturing, emotional, pro-social, hypersexualized, &c.), gender roles (eg: teacher, nurse, secretary, stay at home mom, &c.) and/or stock characters (the tomboy, the girl next door, the bimbo, &c.)? Pretty much what I need is a list of things we've all heard, anyway.
It needs to be an academically acceptable source, which rules out Wikipedia's rather complete and handy-dandy list. (I was going to use the sources but there were none.) |

| Well, maybe, but we've developed some new ones in the last 2,000 years. (Plus, I need to do this essay by Friday. I don't have time to read all of that!) I'm looking for a website or something that lists these stereotypes. |

Here is a website on Gender Stereotypes that might help.
Gender Stereotypes and Sexual Archetypes
Meta-Religion.com's list of archetypes
A Gallery of Archetypes
Jung Archetypes -- the female ones are a ways down the article
Jung Archetypes
Hope this helps,
Cal. |

Thank you both for the links. I appreciate it.
(bubblewrapped; I'm in a local college. This is my first "real" essay.) |

Are fictional books/television shows acceptable as an academic resource? Is this a stupid question?
Probably is.
