Well, a lot of good it would do the person since Fred cant be offended. Well he can, but that's not the point. The point is Fred is a very good character of YWS. He is a good companion when alone in the chat, He's unique and can make you laugh when feeling blue.

Besides, any logical person can determine it is not a real person based on the responses he makes. If a person were (Hate to say it but) dumb anough to get angry with a bot, they would be in store for a never ending battle.

When someone complains about Fred, anyone in the room can simply explain: Fred is our resident bot, he cant hurt you. He's just there anyway. He only came into the lounge once, when Nate unleashed the bot swarm on us.

Fred doesn't pose any significant threat to anyone or anything for that matter. Fred is like a bowl of glass fruit. You cant eat it, you can try and find it pointless, but it's really there to be looked at and admired.

True but Fred isn't a good member. He has made me look stupider than I am. He offended my smartness and may do it again to another

Fred is a computer program, not a person. That's a distinction you need to make, and that's why in my post I never referred to Fred as anything but a program. Thus far, the only complaints that have arisen have been because people find the computer program annoying.

But you're right, Fred isn't a good member. A good member is a human being.

Yeah but, Fred should be removed because of the fact of not being real and not being a good member. Ok, here's another reason, new members, when they come into chat they ask for help on the site. What if they were to just go into Fred's Pad seeing he's alone in there and talk to him trying to find out what to do. But he doesn't respond to your question just says random things. They may get mad and say things like I did and get banned then get more mad for that. Fred can destroy the whole site within weeks.

Rick, I'm going to stop it here. Even if your claim has merit (and I could waste further minutes of my time explaining why it does not), the bottom line is that Fred stays. Now, what I will do is make it more explicitly clear that Fred is a computer program since it seems that even some who frequent the chat room cannot understand the difference between that which is software and that which is biological.

How about a "random story" button? I think it'd be great to have such a button, because I know when I run out of things to do on here, I'd like a convenient little button to randomly go to a story. I can't possibly do that now, because I judge stories by their title, so a nifty little button that can zip me to a story without me knowing right away who wrote it or what it's about would be awesome. Especially when wasting precious time away during the summer.

Haha, you're on a comments roll today Razz

I've thought about doing that, and I actually found a great program yesterday to do it with. But I've always stopped short because of fears over page loading times. I remember when writing.com had one, and I hated it. It increased loading times dramatically, and people could IM you whether or not you were actually on the thing. However, the program I found yesterday doesn't seem to have those issues.

I'll do some research on it. But if it requires a lot of coding, then I won't be able to due to time constraints.

I'm trying to change my avatar, but the only page the site allows me to access is the default page which is the Animals page. It may just be the computer, I'll try it out on another in a little while. Any ideas what might be wrong other than the computer? Sorry if this is in the wrong place, I couldn't figure out exactly where it should go.

I can get to the avatars, but whenever I try to got to a different page like the User Requested portion of the Avatars, it redirects me back to the page at that link. I've tried everything, I think the site may be getting wiggy with it.
