Hidena looked at her feet. "You want the truth?" She asked her.

"Of course."

"It was mine once. Someone very special gave it to me but once they realized who I was...well he-I mean they...gave it to another. It makes me feel better to know that I came out on top."

"Oh...I'm sorry."

"What did I tell you about being sorry all the time?"

"Hey it's not my fault if I care."

"But see ya don't. You say this to make the other feel better."

Tigra

"Come on, let's keep going," I pleaded.
"What's wrong?" Val asked, a touch of concern in her voice.
"I don't like the smell of death," I replied, "Even the virus is better than this."
"But wont there be even more deaths closer to the virus' source?" Serin protested.
"No. The base has to be in a secluded area," I replied.
"Makes sense," Hidena decided. "Lets take some of this food with us though. It could be days away yet."
"That has to be the most sensible suggestion you've made so far," Val grinned but Hidena seemed to take offense from this and moodily grabbed a bag and shoved food inside at an alarming rate.

Hidena waited, leaning against a wall, for the others to inish getting food.
"Can we maybe finish sometime this year?" She growled. No one said anything. THey finished up.

"So where we going?" Serin asked.

*sorry all I got*

"I don't know, I'm not too good with direction either. I just realized something," Val pointed out quietly.

"And that would be what exactly?" Hidena snapped moodily.

"Do any of us really know how to defend themselves? I mean, I have some elvish magic, but most of that is healing and elemental...and I'm not exactly skilled, I haven't had much practice," Val explained.

**That's all I've got, sorry I've been gone for a while...my dad grounded me.**

Hidena rolled her eyes.

"I'm good with close combat. Axes, knifes. I've even tried maces before. Pretty fun. Oh and hand to hand combat. Of course." Hidena said.

"Fun? I don't want to know." Val said.

"You're right. You don't." Hidena smirked.

Tigra

"Let's just go. If it comes to defending ourselves, we'll do what we can and at least we'll have tried," I sighed, once more picking up the trail.
"But trying might not be good enough and I really don't want to die," Val murmured and Serin nodded agreement as she hurried along beside me.

"What about those with the virus? Do you think they want to die? And do you think they wont clear up those of us who are left afterwards?" I turned to Hidena in surprise and she scowled as if willing us to forget the words she had spoken.
"No. If the virus doesn't get us then they'll come find us, one by one. It's time we made a stand," I agreed, directing some of the attention away from Hidena.

"What's that over there?" Val asked suddenly. It was three or four hours since we left the last town and we hadn't seen another soul, dead or alive, since then. The trees were thinning out and there, in a small clearing, was a large building from which there came fumes and a strong, potent smell.
"Is that the virus?" Val asked worriedly, attempting to back away from the vapour.
"The scent is strong here," I replied, "So I guess so."
"Do you reckon the virus is stronger and more effective the closer you get?" Serin sounded rather worried and the same thoughts had crossed my mind.
"Come on you chickens. Let's go in there and demolish the place!" Hidena exclaimed, dumping the unecessary sacks of food.

Hidena walked to the front of the door, the rest behind her. She knocked down the door and everyone backed up a couple step. Hidena just stood there. She felt horrible, but didn't move. Then she ran behind the building. She started puking. She was bent over and throwing up when the others reached her.

"Hidena! Are you ok?" Tigra said putting her hand on Hidena's back.

"I'll be fine." She said, hardly a whisper.

"I think you got too much of the scent and it made you sick. You probably aren't sick though. I hope." Tigra said helping Hidena walk back to the front.

"It's...not...that...Did you look inside?" She sounded horrified.

"No...why?" Val said.

"Don't! Don't go in there! Don't look!" Hidena was yelling now.

"Just calm down." Serin said.

They walked into the room, Hidena farther back still trembling. They stood in horror. People, everywhere, stewn over the floor. There was not one spot that wasn't covered in blood. Children lay with their intestines ripped out covering the floor. Men were ripped into to peices. Women were...well, you didn't want to know.

"Oh my gosh..." Tigra managed. They backed away and went over to Hidena who had calmed down.

"I think all those people had the disease. That's why it was so strong." Tigra said.

"But the disease didn't do that! It had to be..." Hidena stopped. She cringed at the thought that the Goblins were at it again. She shook the though away. No! It wasn't gonna happen again! Not again! Tigra understood what she was thinking. She walked over to her and whispered.

"Don't worry. It couldn't have been them. They're all gone remember?" She smiled at her.

"How do you know?" Hidena growled as she stood up. "We have to find out who's doing this. This seems fresh. They can't be too far away. If we hurry we can catch them."

"And do what?" Val asked.

"Kill them. Kill them all."

Tigra

"I know you feel bad about this Hidena and I understand why but there are people depending on us. Every minute wasted is people's lives," I sighed.
"But you don't understand. How can you understand and besides, this is proof that the goblins are killing too. Who knows if we can stop this virus even if we find the aliens but we can stop this," Hidena replied passionately, indicating the building.

Of course, we had no choice but to agree and to be honest, I did want to get revenge on whoever had done this.
"Stay here. This wont take long," I grimaced as I returned to the room and shut my eyes tight but my nostrils filled in the detail of the bodies. Hurriedly I took a deep breath and then retreated outside where I analised the stench. I couldn't help but think Hidena might be right. It did smell like goblins.

"Have you got the scent?" Val asked and I nodded reluctantly.
"This way," I told them and once more we were off but this time we had a different destination in mind. We were heading to war and I'm still not sure how I felt about that first battle but I do know it changed me, it changed all of us and prepared us for the mission ahead.

"Are you sure this is such a good idea?" Val asked, having a sudden change of mind. She was afraid that there would be too many of them, even though Tigra was sure there weren't too many of them.

"At the most there are five goblins, at the least two. We can take them no problem," she promised.

"You're sure?"

"Positive."

"Besides, Goblins can't fight worth a crud. They are bloodthirsty, but only attack those weaker than themselves," Hidena added as she sharpened her knife.

Tigra

"Wait. They're in that building," I hissed, observing our surroundings. The trail had led us deep into a thicket of pine trees and in a clearing, just ahead, was a small, badly built, mud hut.

"Let's go get them," Hidena decided eagerly. Perhaps a touch too eager for my taste.

"Wait. How many do you think there are? Is it easier to tell this close?" Val asked. I sniffed the air carefully.

"I'd say there's three. Goblins tend to smell alike though so I might have missed one."

"Good enough for me," Serin replied, her hand clutching a dagger with a surprising amount of confidence. Val held a large, spiked tree branch in one hand but had one of Hidena's many weapons tucked in her belt.

"You sure you don't need any sort of weapon?" Hidena whispered as we approached the hut. I smiled at her, opening wide so that she could see all my teeth.

"I got plenty of weapons. Don't worry. Ready? Then let's knock this door down."

**Hey, Kitty, I'm gonna change that so that I have my daggers in my hands instead of hte tree branch, ok?***

"On three," Serin whispered as they prepared to run at the door.

"One," Val whispered.

"Two," Hidena continued.

"Three!" They shouted in unison, running into the door and knocking it down. They walked into a small room that held five goblins. They all began grunting at each other, and The girls attacked.

*Sure. She's your character.*

Tigra

Hidena charged straight into the room, stabbing at a large goblin and ducking the blows from his fists. Serin was facing a slightly smaller goblin with rough, bumpy skin and as she embedded her dagger in his flesh, another approached her from behind. I dashed across the room and pounced on him, dragging him to the floor and sinking my claws into his torso.

Meanwhile, a fourth Goblin was trying to hit Val with a chair leg and the fifth was going for Hidena who now stood beside the carcass of the first.

Val kicked the chair leg out of the goblins hand and charged forward, thrashing him with her daggers. Once he was good and dead (seeing as the only good goblin is a dead one), she turned to the others.

"Val, help!" Hidena said from where she fought. The goblin that she was fighting was about twice as tall as she was, and Val immediatly realized that it wasn't a goblin.

"Hidena, we can't beat that, it's an ogre. Ogre's are near impossible to beat, especially the fullgrown ones!"

"A little late for that," Hidena snapped back. Val sighed and ran over to help her.

Val jumped up, her daggers at the ready, and landed on the ogre's back. She hooked her daggers into his back and began cutting at him, trying to tear him apart. He spun around quickly, trying to grab her as she hung on his back by only her daggers.

Tigra

Serin finished off the goblin she was facing and hurried over to the others, just as I beheaded the one on the floor. The ogre spun around, trying to catch hold of Val who was hanging from his back and we used this to our advantage. Hidena lunged forward and attached herself to the ogre's leg, digging her daggers into his tough hide for a firmer grip. Then, Serin rushed him, forcing the other leg back a step.

"Val, let go of your daggers!" I called. Val nodded and then dropped to the floor and ran towards me.

"Charge him," I told her, bounding forwards and leaping at the goblins chest. Again, the foot not held stumbled further back but the other stayed firm in Hidena's grip so that he was off balance. When Val then added her weight against him, he toppled to the ground.
