Ok, this storybook is a bit different from the others (as far as i know..) In this storybook, i will be beginning it almost exactly like one of my favorite books is. Ill will post short character bios on here from the book and you can pick which one you want to be. Each character will be the same as in the book. If you dont like any of them, the u can make your own character, but nothing too out-there. I'll also post a list of species used in the books. Also, this SB is fantasy and pretty medieval, so no guns or technonlogy thats really advanced. The other character bios will be in a topic called "Autumn twilight discussions and bios"Okie dokie, here we go.

Here is the character I will be playing.

Name: Raistlin Majere
Age: 21
Race: Human
Gender: Male
Appearance: A sickly young man. Has white, wavy hair and golden eyes. His pupils are shaped like hourglasses. He wears red robes (he is a mage and the red robes represent him being neutral.) and carries a magical staff crafted by a great mage nearly three hundred years ago.
Personality: Extremely sarcastic. Doesnt really like people too much. Cares only for himself (more or less). Is very ambitious.
History: Raistlin grew up in a small tree town named Solace. His much stronger and more handsome twin brohter, Caramon, was always looking after him. When Raistlin was six he was taken in and schooled in the arcane arts. He went to school for about 7 years. When raistlin was 16, his father died from a woodcutting accident. His mother died a few days after. After that, the twins befriended Tanis, Flint, Sturm, and Tas (bios in discussion thread) They traveled together and became close friends. Then they split up for five years, Raistlin went to take his test in the tower of high sorcery. There he passed his test but almost died, and that was where he got his white hair, golden eyes, and health shattered. (if u want to know more, PM me. i dont wana put it all here). After that, Raistlin and Caramon did mercenary work. After five years, they returned to solace, where the story starts.
Weapons: Staff and magic. Is a very powerful mage.
Abilities: Staff posses great power, allowing him to cast a number of spells. Is also a very skilled and powerful mage, despite his age.

Before i start the story, i'll post some bios

Ok, i now have three bios up and will post more within the next 24 hours. anyway, im just gonna start the story.

Flint Fireforge collapsed on a moss covered boulder. His old dwarven bones would support him no longer. The boulder felt good on his bones as he looked down into the valley bowl below him. Small, thin trails of smoke curled out from between the leaves of the great Valenwood trees, giving the only hint that Solace was located there.

"I should've never left." Flint muttered to himself. Years of solitary traveling had led him to talk to himself. The dwarf slapped his hands to his knees. "and i'll damned if I'm ever leaving again!"

The dwarf lay back on the boulder. It felt comfortable to the dwarf who had been walking all day in the chill autumn air. Flint let the warmth of the boulder seep into his bones- the warmth of the sun and the warmth of his thoughts. Because he was home.

"My own home fire's gone out." Flint said more softly, watching the smoke drift up into the sky. He shook himself, angry at feeling sentimental. "My house has been sitting empty. Roof probably leaked, ruined the furniture. Stupid quest. Silliest thing i've ever done. After one hundred and seven years, I ought to have learned."

"You'll never learn, dwarf." a distant voice answered him. "Not even if you live to be TWO hundred and seven!"

Flint looked and saw a stranger approaching. He had the grace of an elf, but had a humans bulk. A bow was strung over his shoulder. Flint could only see a brownish-red beard from beneath the hood. No elf could grow a beard, no elf but...

"Tanis?" Flint said hesitantly as the man neared.

"The same." The newcommer's bearded face split into a grin. He engulfed Flint in a hug and hoisted him off the ground.

"Well, you've learned no respest over the last five years." Flint said once Tanis put him down.

Tanis laughed."Quit worrying, no one saw us. And even if they did, they wouldn't remember us. Time doesnt pass for you and me, dwarf, as it does for humans. Five years is a long time for them, a few moments for us." He smiled. "You havent changed."

"The same cant be said of others." Flint said, sitting back down. He scowled up and Tanis. "Why the beard? You were ugly enough."

"I have been in lands that were not friendly to those of elven blood. A brear, a gift from my human father, did well to hide my heritage."

Flint grunted. "But we're home now. Thats all that matters."

"True." Tanis said, scratching his beard.

"Are we just gonna stand here or are we gonna see if anyone else showed up." Flint asked.

"Go." Tanis said, waving his hand.

Tanis and Flint walked down the path to Solace.

"So you didnt find what you sought?" Flint asked.

"No, not a thing. The old gods seemed to have vanished after the Cataclysm. As we discovered long ago, the only clerics and priests in this world serve false gods. I heard of tales of healing, but it was all trickery and magic. Fortunatly, our friend Raistlin taught me what to watch-"

"Raistlin!" Flint puffed. "That pasty-faced, skinny magician. He's more than half charlatan himself. Always sniveling and whining and poking his nose where it doesnt belong. If it weren't fr his twin brother looking after him, someone would've put an end to his magic long ago."

Tanis was glad his beard hid his smile. "I think the young man was a better magician than you give him credit for." he said.

"I suppose-" Flint began

"Hsst!" Tanis held out a warning hand.

Flint came to a dead stop. "What?" he whispered.

Tanis motioned. "Over there, in that grove."

Flint reached for his battle axe and peered through the trees. "I dont see anything."

Tanis did. Once or twice, he caught the glimpse of metal, and kept staring at the place he had seen it. "Who goes there?" he called.

The only sound for long moments was an eerie sound that made the hair on the back of his neck rise. It was a hollow, whirring sound that started out low, then became higher and higher until it obtained a high-pitched screaming whine. Soaring with it, came a voice.

"Elven wanderer, turn from your course and leave the dwarf behind. We are the spirits of those poor souls Flint Fireforge left on the barroom floor. Did we die in combat? No! We died of shame, cursed by the ghost of the grape for not being able to outdrink a hill dwarf."

Flints beard quivered with rage, and Tanis, bursting out laughing, was forced to grab the angry dwarf's shoulder to keep him from running headlong into the brush.

"Damn the eyes of the elves!" the spectral voice turned merry. "And damn the beards of the dwarves!"

"Wouldn't you know it?" Flint groaned. "Tasslehoff Burrfoot!"

Will be back on sometime within the next 24 hours, but no sooner that 19 hours. Anyway, if u wana join, plz PM me and ill get back to ya! Razz

There was a faint rustle in the underbrush and Tasslehoff stepped out. He ran forward, his arms open wide.

"Flint!" the kender threw his arms around the dwarf and hugged him. Flint, embarrassed, returned the embrace reluctantly, then stepped back quickly. Tas grinned and looked up at the half-elf.

"Who's this?" he gasped. "Tanis! I didnt reconize you with the beard!" e held out his short arms.

"No, thnks. I'd rather keep my money pouch." tanis said grinning.

With a sudden look of alarm, Flint felt under his tunic.
"You rascal!" he roared and lept at the kender, who was doubled over, laughing. The two went down in the dust.

Tanis, chuckling, started to pull Flint off of the kender. The he stopped and turned in alarm.

"Flint, get up." Tanis said warningly. Flint reconized the hint of alarm in tanis's voice and immediatly jumped to his feet. Five Hobgoblins stood around them A sixth was seated on a pony behind them.

"You see boys. What fools we are dealing with here in Solace." the hobgoblin spat. "Now..." the hobgoblin leaned over his saddle. "I am Fewmaster Toede, leader of the forces that are keeping Solace protected from undesirable elements. You have no right to be walking in the city limits after dark. You are under arrest." he pointed to the group and added to his guards, "If they resist, kill 'em."

Tanis atched as Fewmaster Toede rode away and drew hid sword. Flint drew his battle axe and tas brought out a dagger.

"I advise you to retreat," Tanis said, throwing his cloak over one shoulder. "We have had a long journey and are tired and hungry and late for a meeting with frineds we have not seen in a long time. We have no intention of being arrested."

"Or of being killed." added Tasslehoff

A bit taken aback, the hobgoblins hesitated. They had not been expecting trained warriors. One cast a baleful look down the road where Toede had vanished. They drew their long, curved blades.

Flint strode forward. "There's one creature i hate more than a gully dwarf, and thats a hobgoblin!"

The hobgoblins charged. Flint lopped the head off the first one. Tanis stabbed another. Tanis turned and met the clumsy stab of one skilfully. he disarmed it and drove his sword through his gut. He turned to see Flint kill another.

Tas's shrill voice rang out. "Hey, hobgoblins! Your faces are so ugly, not even your mother would love it!"

The remaining two hobgoblins charged the kender. Tanis can up beside the kender and stabbed one through the heart, while Tas plunged his dagger into the others gut. They both topled over.

Tas stared mournfully at the body. His dagger had been buried beneth the body when it fell. Taist put his boot to its side, preparing to roll it over.

"No, dont. You can never get the smell off it." Tas said.

Tanis shrugged and turned back to the path. They were almost there. The group began walking towads the Inn of the Last Home, where they promised they would meet up with eyeryone after the five years. Everyone who was still alive.

They did not speak for a long time, each lost in his own thoughts. Finally, the irrepressible kender giggled.

"Besides, that dagger was Flints!"

The three companions climed up the stairs to the Inn of the Last Home, located in the top of the biggest Valenwood. It was nearly forty feet in the air and was a massive structure.

Flint huffed and puffed and Tas skipped along beside him, calling him a slowpoke. Tanis smiled.

They reaced the door and stoped a moment to catch their breaths. They could smell Otik's famous spiced potatoes and were lured inside. The common room was filled with people. All the tables were filled and those who didnt have a seat stood. tanis kept a hand on the kenders shoulder, not wanting him to go wandering off.

"Do you see them?" Flint asked, hopping up and down, trying to see over peoples heads.

"No." Tanis said, looking around the crowded room. All of the sudden, tas dashed off in the direction of the fireplace. A few seconds after he escaped, Tanis and Flint heard a rumbling voice and saw Tas lifted into the air by a human giant.

"Now i do." Tanis said, making his way through the crowds. He finally broke through the throng and and immediatly swallowed up in a bear hug.

"Tanis!" Caramon boomed, hugging his friend. Tanis returned the embrace as best he could, being crushed the the big mans grip.

"Caramon, let him go. You're killing the poor man." a wispering voice said. Although it waswispered, Tanis heard it clearly, even through the din of the room. He saw, out of the corner of his eye, Tas dash off and Flint being hoisted ino the air by caramon.

"Raistlin?" Tanis asked. He looked and saw a figure, huddled in the shadows next to the fire. He could barley make out the figures outline.

"Raistlin?" he asked again. He pulled out a chair from under the table and took his seat. There was no one else at the table except Raistlin.

"Hello, Tanis." Raistlin's hissing voice said. Tanis couldn't see his face because of his hood pulled low over his face.

All of the sudden, Raistlin removed his hood to reveal golden eyes and white hair. His face was gaunt and thin, and had a golden tint to it. A smile touched the thin lips.

"By the gods, Raistlin, what hapened?" Tanis said, awed. Flint plunked down next to him.

"I've been hoisted into the air today more times than- REROX!" Flint exclaimed, catching sight of Raistlin. "What happened to you?!"

Caramon took a seat next to his brother. "Will you tell them, Raist?"

"Yes." Raistlin said "My looks are the result of my test." Raistlin said. His eyes held a slight hint of amusement. Tanis realized he was getting a odd kind of pleasure from seeing his friends exclaims.

"Dear gods." Tanis said. "Not the tests of high sorcery!?"

"Indeed. I passed with little more than my life. Now i am cursed with this vision. It allows me to see time as if affects all things. Flowers wither and die, rocks crumble to dust. Even you, half-elf, age and die in my vision. my health is shattered. I am lucky to be alive." the man spoke with a wheezing voice, barley above a wisper, as if it was all e could to to force the words out. His long, nervous hands, which were the same golden color as his face, toyed absently with uneaten food on the plate before him.

"You remember when we parted five years ago? My borther and i planned a journey so secret i could not even tell you, my dear friends, where we were going."

There was a faint note of sarcasm in the gentle voice. Tanis bit his lip. Never in his life had Raistlin had any "dear friends".

"I was selected by the head of my order, Par Salian, to partake in the test. My brother and i traveled to the fabled tower of high sorcery. There i passed my test, and there i nearly died." Raistlin said.

Caramon choked, obviously in the grip of some strong emotion. "It was awful!" the big man began. "I found him in that horrible place, blood flowing from his mouth, dying! I picked him up and-"

"Enough, brother!" Raistlin's soft voice flicked like a whip. caramon flinched. Tanis saw the young mages eyes narrow, his hands clench. There was clearly a new strain between the twins.

Raistlin drew a deep breath and continued. "When i awoke," the mage said. "my skin was turned this color- a mark of my suffering. My body and my health are irretrievably shattered. But i have power now." he gestured, "And the staff of magius."

Tanis looked to see a thin staff propled up against the wall next to Raistlin.

"Was it worth it?" Tanis asked.

Raistlin stared at him, then his lips parted in a caricature of a grin. He folded his arms and the sleeves of his robes.
"Of course! Power is what i sought- and still seek!"

will be back on tomorow. *stumbles to her bed and falls asleep immediatly. then groans when she remembers she has to get up early tomorrow*

somebody post! lol

Tanis

"You're crazy my friend," Tanis sighed, "But it's good to see you again."
"What there is to see," Tas grinned and then Caramon and Flint joined them at the table. As expected, Flint placed himself on the farthest seat from Raistlin and not just because of the man's new appearance. Flint was always wary of the mage.

*nope, that was good.*

Tas ran off to get them some ale. Raistlin receeded back into the shadows and Caramon, Flint, and Caramon began exchanging stories.

"So where did you and your brother go, Caramon, besides the tower of high sorcery?" Tanis asked curiously.

"We took up some mercenary work at Langtree. Foought a few battles there, saw some places, learmed some new moves." Caramon grinned. "It was fun."

"How about you, Flint?" Caramon asked, looking over at the dwarf.

The dwarf grunted. "I was around and about. Nowhere special." he said, evading the subject. Caramon and Tanis let the subject drop, knowing the stubborn old dwarf would never tell them right now.

Tas came skipping back to the table. "I got some ale!" he announced. The barmaid walked up and stood behind him, carrying a couple of mugs of ale.

"If you can guess who this is. If you win, i'll buy this round." Caramon said. "You too, Flint."

Glad to take his mind off Raistlin's dark tale, Tanis looked to the laughing girl. Red hair curled around her face and her green eyes danced with fun. Freckles were lightly smattered across her nose and cheeks. Tanis seemed to remember the eyes, but beyond that he was blank.

"I give up." he said. "But then, to elves, humans change so rapidly that we lose track. I am ninty-one, yet seem no older than thirty to you. And to me, those ninty years seem like thirty. This young woman must've been a child when we left."

"I was fourteen." the girl laughed and set the mugs down on the table. "And Caramon used to say i was so ugly my father would have to pay someone to marry me."

"Tika!" Flint pounded his hand on the table. He loked at Caramon. "You're buying, you great oaf!"

"No fair!" Caramon said laughing. "She gave you a hint."

finish this later

"A hint that you could have got just as easily," Tas laughed as he grabbed his ale and thre himself back into his seat.
"So what do you think now?" Tika smiled, placing the other mugs of ale on the table. Caramon took a moment to locate a handful of coins before replying and then held them out, his fingers brushing hers as the coins exchanged hands.
"I think someone would have to pay your father to marry you," Caramon replied, blushing slightly.

Tika laughed happily and, with a quick glance round to see how busy it was, seated herself on Caramon's lap. Then he really did blush.
"How have you been my dear?" Tanis asked, grinning widely as he took a swig of his ale. Caramon left his mug where it was, realising that he would have to reach past Tika to take it and his arm would inevitably brush against her body. Seeing this, Tika picked it up for him and teasingly took a sip before placing it in his hand.
"I've been pretty busy serving drinks," Tika responded to Tanis' question.

My posts will get longer as I acquaint myself with the characters but for now how was that one? Would Caramon act like that?

"Oh, Tanis." Tika remembered. She reached into her apron and drew out a small scroll. "Someone delivered this today under strange circumstances."

"Who was it?" Tanis asked, taking the scroll. He glanced at it, but did not open it.

"I'm not sure. He was cloaked from head to toe in every kind of cloathing imaginable. He said, "Give this to one Tanis Half-Elven. I told him you would not be here, and had not been for almost five years. He just said you would be, and left." Tika said, her eyebrows furrowing. All of the sudden, she stood up. "I have to go. I'll stop by every once in a while." and with that she bustled off.

"Whats the scroll say, Tanis?" Caramon asked. Tanis unfurled it and he blushed slightly. Then his face became serious.

"It's from Kitiara. She's not comming." Tanis said.

"That's done it. Bad luck!" Flint said.

Raistlin leaned forward, exchanging thoughts wordlessly with his twin. Only with great personal alarm or diffuculty, could the twins read each others minds. Kitiara was their older half-sister.

"Well, whats it say!?" Tas demanded. Tanis read aloud.

"'I am sorry i missed the reunion. My duties with my new lord have kept me busy. I send my regards to you all and my love to my brothers and..." Tanis rolled up the scroll. "Thats it."

"Love to who!?" Tas asked. "Ouch!" he stood, glaring at Flint who had trod on his foot. "Oh."

Tanis looked at the Twins. "Do you know what new lord she is talking about?"

"Who knows with Kitiara. Last we saw of her, she was headed north with Sturm. She IS a mercenary." Raistlin said, shrugging his thin shoulders.

"Here comes someone who can tell you more." Flint said gruffly.

"Sturm!" Tanis said warmly, turning towards the door. Sturm stood, holding the door. Two plains people walked in, one carrying a staff. Sturm shut the door and turned to them.

Tanis saw the smaller plainswoman shake her head, as if saying no to whatever Sturm was offering. Sturm bowed and walked over to them, his flowing mustasches, his pride and joy, flowing in the wind, or so it seemed.

Tanis hugged his friend tight. He pulled him back and looked the knight over. He hadn't changed, except maybe a few more dents in the ancient silver breastplate he wore. Tanis smiled.

Caramon came over and practically squished the knight in his massive arms. He set the knight down and slapped him good naturedly on the shoulder.

"Gerrtings, knight." Raistlin said.

"Raistlin."

"Raistlin," Sturm greeted, his voice barely civil as he addressed the mage but then the slight frown melted into what was almost a smile as he turned back to the others.
"It's been a long time," Sturm noted, pulling yet another chair to the table.
"That it has old friend," Tanis replied jovially.

"Can I get you a drink?" Caramon asked.
"You're offering to pay?" Sturm queried, his eyebrows rising in surprise.
"Heee haaas tooo," Tas replied in a sing song voice.
"Not at all," Caramon argued. "Sturm was not in the room when I lost the bet so this is just a friendly gesture."
"Either way, I'd love an ale," Sturm interceded in an attempt to prevent a political discussion about complete nonsense. He wanted to get down to business.

"Tika, your services are required," Flint's voice boomed and the young woman hurried over, a cheerful smile pulling at the corners of her mouth.
"An ale for Sturm here," Talen called out, "And Caramon's paying." Tika nodded, heading for the bar. The group watched her go, her hips swaying teasingly and her graceful feet easily manouvering around the tables. Within no time she was back, placing the ale into Sturm's firm grip and holding her hand out to Caramon.

"Here you go," Caramon smiled awkwardly and handed over yet more coins.
"Your purse will be empty soon friend. How do you expect to pay my father then?" Tika teased, smiled sweetly and then strode away. Caramon was left bewildered, trying to decipher her words.
"She means so you can marry her," Tanis laughed.
"Much as I enjoy the reunion, why are we here?" Sturm interrupted, casting a suspicious glance at Raitslin.
