Keira spoke up, "We can't just rush straight in without knowing anything about them, I mean, we don't even know who created them, so how are we supposed to know ow strong they are?"
She glanced around at the others and noticed Eryc and Ishtar exchanging glances. Why had they done that, did they know something? Adrian seemed to have noticed too, as his face looked worriedly between the two of them. |

"They're a mixed breed between vampires and werewolves," Ishtar explained.
"Ishtar," Eryc sighed, "not now."
"What?" Adrian asked, "is this what you were going to tell me?"
Ishtar turned to look at him, "yes, love, this is. More than forty years ago when we had been in that fight, remember that?"
"Yes I remember, the worst ten years of my life."
"Well during that time I bore a child, Eryc's child. A mixed breed between vampires and werewolves. Just before Eryc left his pack they killed her, but not before she started her own pack." Adrians face held pain and confusion.
"That's facinating and all but that has that got to do with me?" Keira asked. |

Eryc sighed. "Well, at least no-one attacked me."
He looked around. "Is anyone hungry? You do not have to stand around like statues, you know. The furniture will not bite."
Disappearing into another room, he reappeared with a bowl of fruit, juice, and a bag of chips.
Noting the surprise on his guest's faces, he laughed. "I'm not a savage, you know. I still eat normal food." He stretched.
"So, am I going in alone? Or does anyone have a better idea?" |

Eryc grabbed an apple and bit into it noisily. Between mouthfuls, he explained. "These are another breed. Even us with... special abilities will have our work cut out for us staying alive." His expression softened slightly. "And I can't let you, defenseless, go to your death for the sake of curiosity." Wiping his face with the back of his hand, he threw the core into the bin from across the room. |
