The Descriptive Writing Contest will run from March 20th until April 20th. All entries must be in response to this prompt:
Describe a car accident.
In your description, I am mainly interested in the happenings of the car accident itself. I will allowed a small amount of pre-accident description, and the post-accident description may go as far as a hospital visit (if it applies). The description may be from the point of view of someone in the accident or someone watching the accident happen or an earthworm on the ground in the path of the accident or anything else you want to do--that is totally open. You may PM your entries to me or post them here as you wish. If you PM them to me and wish to post them after the contest is over, that is fine also. Maximum Word Limit is 750 words. And remember...it's a descriptive writing contest, I will be looking for some serious description here.
The winner will receive 750 point from me and either an in-depth critique of two poems or one short story of their choosing. Also, I will critique each entry personally.
Good Luck!! Feel free PM me if you have any questions! |

Hm, this looks interesting! I think I'll go in for it...course it would be a lot easier if I had actually been in a car accident myself, and I refuse to deliberately be involved in one simply for the sake of art. I'll give it a go though!
It can be from anyone/anything's point of view, so long as they can see the accident happen, yes?

That's correct! Anyone/anythings point of view...it's up to you. But yes, they do kind of have to see the accident to describe it |

OK. Here I go:
When I saw the car coming towards me, I felt a touch of fear and excitement. It came closer and closer to me. I them smiled. Then all of a sudden, it happened. My headlights were crushed and then my airbag deployed. My face was totally squashed to the airbag and I felt glass showering me. Then something happened. It all went black. |

| I'm gonna give this a go, because my head is drained with what I'm writing at the moment. So this will make a welcome (if bloody depressing) break. |

Cool. When I remember, I'll do it.
That could mean never. |

Welp, because a) I'm not going to be here at midnight...and b) I haven't seen much interest in it this contest in the past week or two...I am going to end the contest two hours early!
If you do plan on sending something in tonight, as long as I receive it by midnight I will accept it!
Otherwise, to those who entered--I will begin doing critiques and choosing a winner hopefully in the next week or two.
Thanks for entering! |
