Submitted by Firestarter and Chevy
a breeze flutters through your long hair,
your fresh pose nothing unexpected
reminds me of a day long past
when no future spectres drifted nearby,
no unwanted social hassles plagued us
our idyllic life just forgotten fantasy,
our adult emergence a nightmare.
half a decade took forever to pass,
we could have never fathomed
it would last so long.
going into the category of people I knew.
your face i've forgotten,
i don't hear your voice.
i knew i would see you again,
but everyday
seemed to be further and further away.
when did your eyes become so mysterious
your hair so silky, your clothes pretentious
are you even the same person?
i'm starting to doubt if we've ever met.
but the endless chatter, the explosive laughter
reminds me of a far-away childhood i loved.
it's not just any saturday
sitting at the bus stop
at the corner of Johnson and Brunswick.
i look up and see you coming
thoughts race through my head
i'm having a hard time
believing this is you.
but those bright eyes,
those bold, beautiful, bright eyes
will entice me back to the good old days
innocence encapsulated,
sweet purity epitomized.
the memories entwined within our souls
will never be erased.
so hold my hand,
let the sun glisten in your hair
the rosy red lipstick shine
let me show you my world.
and for one day
for just one day,
let everything go.
