thanks so much for the crit!!
it might have seemed random in some parts b/c it was for a contest where you had to make a not cliche fairy tale. i'm not sure if you really do get that feel with it, but it's my first contest, so i'm just trying it out.

that was really good advice, tho, so thanks a bunch!
