Firestarter: The Historian. Not brilliant, but it was a pageturner and it let me geek out on history.

Snoink: "Talent Is Cheap. Dedicated Work Is Not: I saved the best tip for last. There are plenty of those with lots of talent, but they spend their days playing World of Warcraft or figuring out ways to do as little work as possible and get away with it. In no matter what you do, work hard and people will take notice. This applies to writing as well. If you dedicate yourself to your stories, people will take notice."

Firestarter: Not when I've just seen my team get slaughtered. I couldn't give a rat's arse about hard work right now.

Firestarter: Got the job! They offered it to me an hour after my interview. I think it's because I spent ten minutes discussing the book I just read.

Stella Thomas: he's one of the curators at the local arts festival I'm volunteering at? Anyway, I was sitting in on this John Boyne/Andrew O'Hagan event (yeah, met them too, sort of), and there was this random guy asking them questions.... and they were calling him Colm and talking about his novels and I suddenly remembered he was involved with the festival. So I said hi on my way out and he said hello. Uh... that concludes our conversation. But still. Technically, I met him, lol.

Firestarter: I have an interview on Friday ... at a bookstore :)
