Submissions Are Currently Closed

The Young Writers Literary Journal ("YWLJ") thanks all authors for their submissions for the Summer 2015 issue! Authors will be notified as to the status of their submission by the end of April.

Editorial Focus

The YWLJ is solely focused on showcasing the best work by young writers ages 21 and below. We accept poetry as well as short stories up to 10,000 words in length. Any subject is acceptable so long as it is your original words. However, we do not accept work that depicts adult situations or extreme violence in graphic detail. If you are unsure your work conforms to this standard, please feel free to send a query letter to journal@youngwriterssociety.com.

Editor's Tips

Proofread, proofread, proofread! Every issue, we receive hundreds of submissions, and works with glaring grammatical issues tend to be rejected outright. We also tend to receive far more poems than short stories, but since we aim to accept the same amount of each, short stories have a greater acceptance rate. Last but not least, don't forget to read the Guidelines page!
